10 + 13 oct. update: the matcha lattes here are actually really good. the matcha is mixed well (no chunks, which isn't often the case when i order matcha somewhere...) and tastes decent. if you like ube, the ube matcha is a good choice. it's quite creamy, a little bit too decadent/heavy for a morning drink imo but nice as a treat. i really enjoyed the strawberry matcha, it's so refreshing and the flavours work well together. overall, if you enjoy matcha, i'd 100% recommend giving this place a try. the honey lavender latte is also incredible!
8 oct: we ordered an iced honey lavender latte and a hot tiramisu latte w/ oat milk. the honey lavender latte was great, but the tiramisu one wasn't anything special, i didn't enjoy it too much. however, maybe it would be better iced. since the honey lavender latte was so good, i'm sure i'll find a better drink the next time i come here. i'll update!
service was good, the person at the counter was nice and knowledgeable. i'm glad they asked me about milk preferences for the tiramisu latte. i'm not sure if its customisable for every drink, but my digestive system definitely appreciated it. drinks were made quickly as well.
the actual place is clean and decorated beautifully with green and healthy plants. the armchairs are comfortable. seems like a nice place to work, study, or chat with friends. drinks are reasonably priced and definitely a better option...
Read moregenerally i don’t write reviews, and i’ve been going to melbys for the past two years. but recently, their quality has been going down and inconsistent. after the price change (which is understandable in this economy), the quality of their drinks, especially the matchas, have been getting worst. in the photo, i got a white chocolate matcha with oatmilk and half sweet, but the drink itself is almost entirely oatmilk and is still really sweet. the color of this “matcha” has the faintest green, and no matcha taste. in the past, their matchas were bright green and actually had a strong matcha flavor. my recent experience with them has not been the greatest.
update: the staff and owners were really sweet in this situation and they tried fixing the issue. one of the managers called me apologizing and told me i could get a remake whenever. when i went in today, i met the one of the owners we talked for a bit and she would not let me go without something extra due to my past experience. they really do take pride...
Read moreSuch a nice, private, comfy, hole in the wall coffee shop. The moment you step in, you can smell the strong aroma of roasted coffee beans. There’s a row of sturdy tables and chairs that line the wall but there’s only so many. When I went there were plenty of people there chatting, on their laptops, and doing whatever. The baristas were friendly and helped me decide what to order. They have WiFi and good air conditioning. I ordered a matcha latte and a honey lavender matcha with 50% sugar and less ice. The matcha latte tasted good. The honey lavender matcha had a very prominent honey lemon taste that reminded me of those hot honey lemon drinks that you drink when you’re sick. It wasn’t a bad drink but I personally didn’t like it with my matcha. The barista did say that it was a popular drink but is a little sweet which is why I did the 50% sugar. They also have a rewards point program if you sign up with your number at the kiosk in the front. I would come back and try more if I...
