Mexico Grill — Restaurant in Watchung

I had the cinco de mayo pork and it was excellent! It is very clear that everything is made from from scratch and is packed with flavor! I picked at the dish prior to the photo so disregard that. The green sauce was their enchilada sauce which was very flavorful but the real star is the red sauce which is their chimichanga sauce! Wow that stuff is amazing! The dish has a good amount of melted cheese underneath the sauces and the pork. There is also ground pork topping which is very good. It is clear that the black beans are cooked fresh not from a can because they have perfect texture and lots of flavor! The meal came with a salad as well which consisted of fresh chopped romaine lettuce, tomato, and onion topped with a delicious sauce, that was not a traditional salad dressing, which was new and different for me but very delicious. Chips and salsa were served when I was seated. The salsa was excellent and not your standard pico de gallo but a much better salsa. The chips were fresh cut thick tortillas deep fried. My one and only complaint is that the chips needed salt there was absolutely no salt on the chips. I would like it if they were salted when removed from the oil so that the salt sticks but having a salt shaker around could work as well. Other than that it was excellent. It seemed slightly on the pricey side but, it may be due to the Covid-19 issue. Recently other restaurants have increased their prices as well. Regardless of the price, the food and the selections were well worth it. I've been to many many different authentic Mexican restaurants. Mexico Grill's food is authentic and they make an effort to modernize their dishes. I so wanted to try everything on their menu. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes for lunch and after, ordered The Red Sea as take out for dinner later. The Red Sea was delicious. The atmosphere is comfortable with Mexican music and the place is clean including the restrooms. The server was a very pleasant nicely dressed middle aged person. He genuinely seemed to care for your needs and made you feel comfortable. I gave him better than a 20% tip for his professionalism.

My only regret is that I don't live close enough to continue to eat there. When I visit near there again, I will definitely have to eat there again.

My husband and I had the pleasure of trying this place. It was really out of the blue we just decided to try something fast & some spanish food. When we got there we really thought it was like a chipotle/panchero style but far from it AND WAYYYYYY BETTER!!!! We ordered the delicious lunch Special $6.95!!!!! AND BOY WAS IT DELICIOUS! You get alot of food for a decent price!! The server was AWESOME, very kind, polite, and attentive. The manager, also very kind & attentive. Our drinks would be almost empty and he would take the cup and refill it for us! That is what you call great service. Food TASTES SOOOOO FRESH AND SO MUCH FLAVORS! We will be coming back for sure!!!!
