Rey Del Taco — Restaurant in Waterbury

I think this place has a lot of potential and would really like to give it another chance in the future. This is my honest opinion and in no way said to hurt the business. I hope this helps them grow and better there food. Pros Wait time 10 min Clean parking lot Clean kitchen area. Great customer service. Very nice people.

Now here are the CONS. Very cheap with their sauces. They only fill them up about half way. They garnish the tacos with items that people don’t really eat tacos with like cabbage and radish. Instead they should use lettuce and tomatoes. The chicken should be well SEASONED AND SHREDDED. The beef while texture was good it lacked flavor I ordered a steak quesadilla and it was smothered with cheese so it was a bit over powering. But when I tasted the steak on its own there was nothing no flavor. Very under whelming. The tacos al pastor were under seasoned and had a lot of fat. You know the part where it’s just chewy so you end up spiting it out. A lot of that. And they don’t have HORCHATA.!!! That’s a must have at...

Just came from getting my order at Rey Del Taco and it was AMAZING! I had eaten here a few times before and their food has always been good but tonight it was beyond. I got the carnitas tacos and the meat was well seasoned, the slaw that comes with the order was crunchy and tasty, the guacamole was sooo good too. Hubby had the elote with extra pique just like he liked it and his burrito bowl was so good he almost inhaled it. However- what put this meal over the top was the piña colada. It was thick and just the right amount of pineapple & coconut mix- served with whipped cream and a cherry on top (I know- not how it is usually served but just go with it). I was blown away! I went here based on the reviews, let me tell you, the reviews lies. We had shrimp 🍤 tacos, nachos, and a side order of guacamole. The guacamole comes out of a bag, it’s not even fresh, the tomato and onion might be fresh but I saw the premade guacamole which wasn’t edible, it was super salty. The steak nachos barely had any steak meat. It was a complete disappointment. The shrimp tacos lack flavor, the tortilla was stiff.
