I used to think Tacos Quintero was the best, most authentic Mexican food truck in the city. I have been there numerous times and enjoyed the food. Recently, there have been changes to the way they operate. So much so that they have blacked out the old prices on their menu board. While their prices haven’t changed much - a burrito is $10 now instead of nine, which isn’t too bad - the quality of their food has drastically diminished. I am a contractor and was working up the street last week when I decided to get chicken burritos for all of my guys. To my surprise, there was barely any chicken inside of the burritos. All of us said the same thing: “ what is this a vegetarian burrito?” I went back and returned our food and asked them to make more. Although they did comply, I was told if I wanted more meat I should ask for it and pay the extra dollar. I have no problem doing that if I was ordering extra meat, but if I am ordering a chicken burrito, I expect there to be chicken. They have clearly been finding other ways to cut costs because their salsa verde, which used to be one of their highlights, looked and tasted like green water. Suffice it to say I will never be eating from Tacos...
Read moreSave yourself the trouble and go down the road to Los Garcias or Rey del Taco. The Al pastor is flavorless and almost all pieces of inedible chunks of fat. Each taco might have half an ounce of meat. Service was very slow and after 20 minutes I asked how much longer and she said it was ready yet it took them 10 more minutes to put it in the bag and hand it to me. Just a PSA for fellow Al pastor lovers it was chewy rubbery fat with no flavor and each taco can be ate in 2 normal bites. Also red and green sauce were both like 75% water lol....
Read moreI ordered two carnitas and two tripa tacos, quesadilla with chicharon con calabasa and one tamale. The carnitas tacos were good, not much flavor from the meat itself but the condiments made it okay. The tripe was dry to say the least, but enjoyable. The tamale was flavorless and has minimal filling. The tacos were served on disposable plates with aluminum over the top. It was worth a try. The price was not bad. $25 for 4 tacos, a quesadilla and a drink. There is ample seating outside, beaches and table as...
