Chilito's Mexican Bar And Grill — Restaurant in Waterloo

On my most recent visit, things got off to a rocky start. When we were first greeted, we were told we'd have a 5-minute wait, but our wait was more like 30 minutes.

After finally getting seated, we ordered our meals and then snacked on our bean dip appetizer. The bean dip was decent, having a little zip of spice to it, and not just tasting like something out of a can. The salsa was decent as well, again with a little bite to it, but nothing that should offend sensitive pallettes.

The staff did a good job of keeping drinks topped off and chip baskets refilled. However, after the third refill of chips and no entrees on our table, I realized that we had been waiting at least 45 minutes. Our server did come over shortly after that and apologize for the wait. Our meals arrived shortly thereafter, and were hot.

I ordered the steak fajita chimichanga, which was executed extremely well. Piping hot, served with sour cream, guacamole, and rice and beans. My deep fried tortilla was filled with seasoned steak, grilled onions and peppers, and smothered in queso. If you like fajitas, you should find it extremely satisfying.

I enjoyed my meal thoroughly based on flavor, but I did dock a star due to the wait to be seated (since it was well beyond what we were initially quoted), and then for the unreasonable wait for our meals once we had been seated. Despite the reasons we were provided for the delays, I suspect the kitchen was just struggling to get their act together tonight, and never quite made it happen until the dinner...

While visiting my Brother and Sister In-law today we went out for lunch. From the moment we went inside we were treated like family and not just patrons. The food was outstanding and the entire staff was awesome. Look forward to returning to your restaurant next time we're in town.

After we enjoyed our awesome meals and were getting ready to leave we asked the waitress for our bill. To our surprise we were told that a young lady and her family had paid for our food and drinks. Our bill had to be close to if not over $100.oo the young lady wrote a note on the back of our bill saying that her grandfather father and brother all served this great country of ours and she wanted to say thank you to my Brother and I for our service to this great country. The restaurant had maybe four other customers and it took an hour to get our food . I ordered a side of guacamole and they did not bring it out with my food i had to ask twice they finally brought me a sliced Avocado about a half of one avacado ,not guacamole. the 2 taco meal was 12.25 and came with rice and beans the avacado was 4.00 the meal was not good the tortilla was soggy even though it was corn ,and I had to wait fir my guacamole that never came I had ice water the meal was horrible and the service was bad too .I went with 2 freinds ,and there meals were not.great either .
