I have been to the Denny's in Waterloo IL a number of times. I have never been very impressed with the food or the service. I admit, I am old school. I believe a restaurant is a service industry. Unfortunately, for us old timers, it seems people today have no idea what the word service means. I couldn't possibly use enough adjectives to describe the lack of service, my family and I have received at this Denny's. It's now an ongoing joke to go back to see if things can get worse. Today fortunately for my wife at least her food was good. My food however was not fit to eat. I ordered country fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and a dinner roll, with coffee and creamer. What I was served was a country fried steak with some kind of thick goo on top, that was possibly gravy at one time. The mashed potatoes were very old, and without gravy. I was told they ran out. The corn was like nothing I have ever even seen before, pale, white colored, with some kind of green flaky stuff throughout, oily and smelled of vinegar. My wife, and I both tasted it but agreed, it shouldn't be eaten by a human. Instead of a dinner roll, I was served garlic bread. Maybe, I should have ordered spaghetti and meatballs? My coffee was alright when I could actually get the server to refill my cup. There were very few people there today while we were there. I expected better. Am I expecting too much, and being to critical? I don't think so. I remember a day when we took pride in doing a great job, no matter what we were doing.or what we earned. When we respected ourselves and others enough to treat people right. I know of no greater achievement in this life than the ability to help someone else. Why have so many of us...
Read moreWent for dinner with my mom around 4 pm. We both got breakfast. Build your own grand slams to be exact. The bacon was hard and tasted old. My mom ordered over easy eggs but asked the waitress to make sure the cook knows she would like the whites of the eggs done. Which isn't hard to do. Heard the manager with a kid there tell the waitress then she should have ordered over medium eggs. Sent the eggs back and they came back exactly the same. Mom got the seasonal fruit and most of it was mushy. I got hash browns and specifically asked for sliced American cheese and onion on it and it came out with neither. Waitress acted irritated with the cook and apologized numerous times. She brings the hash browns back out and this cook seriously put some black onions and UNMELTED sliced cheese just on top on the hash browns. She offered to put my whole plate in the microwave cuz she said she would be mad too. I won't even start on my watery scrambled eggs. BUT our pancakes and ice water were really good. And the waitress was very nice. Payton I think her name was. Oh and the manager with the kid noticed how much we were "complaining" and didn't once come over to ask questions. Just stood there and complained and then left. Definitely will not...
Read moreI was at Denny's in Waterloo IL. On 6-9-19 about 4 pm. Eating with my husband and 2 friends. Our bill was about $55 of which I paid. My complaint was about the lack of 1 condiment I consider essential to my dinner. Mustard for my hamburger. I was informed it would be there on Monday. The waitress was apologizing for the lack there of. I did have to wait a few minutes for her to come back around but more people were starting to come in. No problem with her. I had ate a couple bites of the burger because it smelled so good. Once I was informed there would be no mustard I stopped. What a disappointment. I went to pay at the desk and the gentleman asked how was dinner and I told him fine until I found out there was no mustard for my burger. He did apologise but not that I believed him. He went on to say that there have been a couple of things not ordered in large enough quantity. Let me get to the point. Mustard is something when properly stored should stay viable for a good while. Someone needs to be updated on better ordering skills. This is an easy fix. Wal-Mart is right behind this store have someone make a decision an go buy several bottles to hold them over until Monday. This disappointed me and my meal. Thank you,...
