Emilio’s has been my family’s go-to for their fully-loaded steak bomb subs and Greek salads for decades. It is unpretentious and lovely, run by a terrific local family. Yes I am biased, but it is such good comfort food and I am so glad they are there for my family when we want a no fuss, familiar evening old-style subway shop dinner.
Yes, my dad does complain about the bread, which is definitely on the soft side and not sourced, say, from the increasingly twee bakery Iggy’s (which used to be right around the corner).
Usually (still) we call in ahead, park in front, hop inside for our dinner, and are off again with no fuss.

Read moreThe hots and the bread supported each other and worked in harmony, most Italian subs they try and out shine the other which obviously leads to a lack of bread integrity. The meats, so thinly sliced but plentiful none the less. The cheese was perfectly placed like a blanket on top keeping everything together but not too tight that it blocks the salami from the spot light.
I feel like Michelangelo himself could be left speechless by this gift from the gods. No color on canvas could do this heavenly creation justice.
