Fresh Mediterranean Express — Restaurant in Waukee

I like the food here and order frequently. However their customer service (with the exception of the owner) is awful. And honestly, it’s pretty pricey for what you get. Ted’s is better for the $ and the service. I ordered online tonight and they claimed they didn’t have my order. (For my $16 salad) I explained and showed them my Apple pay receipt. It didn’t show an order number. They know me. I go there often. They asked me if it could be under a different name and I said maybe my sons and I gave them that name. They said I was going to need to pay for it again because they couldn’t find it and if the order came across then I could ask for a refund. When I complained about this they asked me again what my order was and I read the order to them in detail. Xtra cucumbers, no tomatoes etc. They suddenly Found it but there was never an apology. walk up to the counter thinking how I have tried just about everything on the menu, but at the same time conflicted on what to order as this will no doubt be a last minute decision. Just then, a great idea had come upon me, I will get the falafel sandwhich WITH the grilled veggies (my two favorites, of course with tzatziki). As I clumsaly stumbled over my words trying to explain to the helpful cashier my wishes, the chef in the back understood me completely and confirmed my order with "that's exactly how I get mine, we can do that". I knew from that moment this was going to be a memorable journey. After waiting impatiently for just a few minutes I was brought a beautiful sandwhich piled high with fresh grilled veggies atop perfectly seasoned falafel on a grilled Peta that was the stuff of Legends. I think people are giving more stars for the place being clean and aesthetic.

If you want to go to this place by just looking at good reviews; please don't waste your money here.

Though its a quick bite place, they still prompt you to choose tip on payment screen and if you select no; the attitude changes immediately.

Before paying, the lady asked if we wanted any add-on's for our pita bread. For one we selected feta cheese add on and when they handed over; there was no feta added even though they charged for it.

Just like anywhere else; inflation hit small quick bite places as well. Pita bread on average is 10$ here;portions are very small. Very less meat, hardly 3-4 pieces inside. Tasted fine; but not coming back to eat nothing for 10$.
