Los Tres Amigos — Restaurant in Waukee

The food is standard Americana Mexican fair. Not my favorite place, but it's where we go when my favorite place is closed. The food here is consistently good.

They don't deliver. Which means I have to use a service if I want their food delivered. This has just been a pain in the past when there is a miscommunication between the service and the restaurant. I just prefer to order in from a place that has delivery and leave out the middle man.

Their queso is good and not spicy and should appeal to a wide range of tastes. All things with "fajita" in the title are yummy. My daughter likes their chicken quesadillas and it is nice to be able to order off the ala carte menu for her or when I am not super hungry.

Two adults and one child ate there at 5pm. It was not busy. Our drinks came fast and then after waiting 10 minutes we finally had to ask someone to take our order. Asked for a child's bean burrito with only beans and shredded cheese and it came covered in salsa. The salsa is bland. Rice was ok and that's why they get the one star. Both adults were given tostadas - not what we ordered. Drinks were never refilled. Had to ask for check and then wait around for someone to take payment. Employees were just hanging around at the back of the restaurant. In the women's restroom one toilet was clogged and the other stall had no toilet paper. Will...

We got two lunch specials, seafood enchilada(s?) and fajitas. The food was delivered to the table fast. Everything was seasoned really well.

The downside of our visit was the menu was worded wrongly, it listed the seafood enchildadas as one crab and one shrimp, they handed off one combined crab and shrimp enchilada. I had intended to order more sides, but they never revisited our table after dropping off the food. By time we had a chance to order more, we had finished our plates and decided to go.

All in all, i would recommend them, the price and flavor is good. I only wish they had checked in another time or two...
