Jester's Double D Pizza — Restaurant in Waukegan

You know those trendy little spots you find when traveling? The ones you CANNOT WAIT to tell everyone about? The ones with the hipster bartender and bubbly waitresses? Creative decor and the BEST apple martini garnished with Asian wonder fruit slices you've ever had in your life? Yeah? Well... THIS AIN'T THAT PLACE! This is come in, sit down, get a beer, and order some food. This is 100% old pub that a small group of locals go to after work to get a beer. And it makes me warm inside!!! You know you're in good shape when the lady that comes to take your order starts the interaction by stating she hopes we're not in a hurry!! No ma'am we're not and we like places where people talk real talk. We order a deep dish, but I had the good sense to ask before finishing the order... "What should we order?" The lady taking care of us suggested we get the double deep instead so we got that with just good old pepperonis. NO DISAPPOINTMENT! This is that place that makes me wish we lived in Waukegan. I'd have a place to go...

I came to Waukegan for my neices bootcamp graduation with my mom and sister. We wanted to try Chicago style deep dish pizza and I found this place based on reviews. I have left weeks ago and I still dream of this pizza. Order a salad and that was a meal in itself. This pizza was so damn good! I don't even know how they make this but this pizza beast came out super hot stayed hot...even after we we took it back to our room went to the casino came back and ate a 2nd piece! Next day was our flight home and we ate nothing the whole day cause we were still full off this pizza. I was expecting this to have some soggy dough but ABSOLUTELY NOT! It was cooked throughout. I didnt want to stop eating but I had to 🤣🤣🤣 I got more niblings that need to join the Navy so I can have a reason to come back to Jesters! The service was amazing the place was clean. Atmosphere is a bar and a casino area. 10/10...

I really hate to do this to a hometown classic, but WOW, what a let down. Came in yesterday (4/26) for the first time in well over 20 years. This place use to have phenomenal pizza but has really gone to the gutter. Ordered a sausage, mushroom, and giardinera pizza. Waited over 30 minutes for it to cook and was ok with that because I was expecting a homemade pie. This was not the case at all. I was clearly brought a frozen sausage pizza that they added mushrooms, giardinera, and extra cheese to cook evenly. Literally the biggest disappointment I’ve had in such a long time. I will never order again. Great place if you want a beer and appetizer but so is almost every other bar. All the guys sitting at the bar were creepy as hell too. The servers were at least...
