Sweet Lola's — Restaurant in Wausau

I ordered about 150 macarons for my wedding from this place. I had someone pick them up for me on the day so unfortunately I wasn’t there to confront them. They were very small, maybe acceptable if they were sold as “mini-macarons”. The tops were all hollow and cracked. Even though my flavors were are different, they all mostly looked and tasted the same. But the biggest problem was with the lavender flavor. Now, I’ve had all kinds of pastries in lavender and it’s literally my favorite. But it seemed like they used essential oils or something like that to flavor the lavender macarons. They were bitter and extremely soapy and just wrong. When my husband tried one (in the middle of the event) he freaked out and thought we’re getting everyone sick with this extremely bizarre macarons and had to personally go and remove them. I called because I figured they would want to know about this. The manager said she wasn't there for the past 10 days so she doesn't know what happened. But she said she will talk to the person who was in charge of that order and give me a call back. I said the lavender was definitely not right and there were other problems like the jam filling was missing and all the fillings were the same, etc. so they said they will give me a call back. They never did. Overall, it was a waste of money and a terrible memory of our day. If you can’t make it, just say so. Please don’t give garbage out.

I requested 250 cupcakes and a small two tier cake to be delivered to my reception at 4. We paid extra to have it delivered at a set time. We called several times and confirmed that everything was all set and in place, and every time we checked in the staff seemed clueless. The day prior I stopped in to drop off my real flowers to add to the cake as well as our cake topper. When I arrived at the reception my guest and I found the cupcakes and cake outside! It was all left outside in the sun. They never called me to tell me they had to drop it off early or had issues or I would have come and got them myself. During my wedding while trying to put out the cupcakes we noticed they delivered less then half of my order! My cake was missing the topper, flowers, it was melted and falling apart! The limited cupcakes we had to use were also smooshed, melted or had ants all over them! I was so disappointed and upset. We called and called finally someone answered and was not helpful she had no idea about my order and blamed it all on someone else. We asked to have a manager call us back, she said no one will be available they are closed Sunday and Monday. Do not waste your time and money here especially if it is for your big day. Clearly they can not handle...

I always go to Sweet Lola’s when a co worker or family member has a birthday. They’ll write their name on top on a fondant chip and it looks super cute. However, today was different. Tomorrow is a co workers birthday so I was planning to bring her a cupcake and mini cheesecakes for other co workers. This was the first time I’ve ever been there when they didn’t have mini cheesecakes. I asked if they could have some for tomorrow. The girl working said no I don’t think so. When I asked why she said she doesn’t think they have the ingredients. So ok I picked out a strawberry cheesecake flavored cupcake for my worker and a cupcake with sprinkles for my daughter and I to share at home. I asked the girl if she could write a name on the cupcake. She said no she’s not good at that. So I bought the two cupcakes and asked for a bag to carry them to the car. She said they’re all out of bags. Seriously? So I ended up buying mini cupcakes from trigs instead of the mini cheesecakes. On top of all of that, when we got home and ate the cupcake with sprinkles it was obviously a day old cupcake; it was very stale. The frosting and edges of the cupcake were hard. Very...
