I always love the opportunity to try a new spot, and this place did not disappoint! You could tell the tortilla, sope, and gordita shells were made right after you order, fresh and crisp! The chorizo has to be some of the best I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying, perfect balance of spice and savory with just a little extra kick (try it in the campechano). The lengua and cabeza? Out of this world good. But the part that really stood out to my wife and I was when the gentleman behind the counter came out after our meal and talked with us for a little bit. He even answered some of my questions on how cabeza is prepared, but unfortunately wasn't willing to give away his lengua recipe, which is understandable considering it's some of the best I've ever had. If you are in the Wausau area and looking for a new Mexican food spot, look no further!

I love Mexican food; this was the best I've ever had. I ate the gordita with lengua, the burrito with birria, and the sope with the chorizo-beef mixture. My favorite thing was the sope; the vessel was tender and crisp, the meat was very tasty, and the whole thing was deeply complimented by the green salsa. The burrito was spicy and refreshing. The best bites were when the fresh avocado, onion, and cilantro mingled with the spicy, savory beef. The gordita had a wonderful crust and the lengua was a lovely balance of chewy and tender and paired well with the salty, stretchy cheese. I highly recommend this place. I will visit everytime I drive through Wausau from here on out. Pictured: volcan and gordita, flautas

Well I can't say El Zebas has the best Al pastor in Wausau because they are the only place we've tried since arriving in Wausau. I can tell you that we probably wont be going anywhere else for tacos. The Al pastor tacos were absolutely amazing. So good that when the (who I believed to be) owner came to ask us about our meal I had to put my taco down to shake his hand. Best Al pastor we've had since Dunedin FL.

Tried this tonight for the first time. From the outside it doesn't appear to be inviting or really look like a restaurant, but we're glad we went in. There are only 5-6 tables in a pretty big room with the cashier and kitchen in the same room. The gentleman that waited on us was very friendly and attentive even though he was waiting tables, cashiering, and sometimes cooking. We tried 3 different tacos (cabeza, Al pastor, and chorizo). Even though the tacos are on the smaller size, they are packed with meat and are very filling. We also ordered chips and salsa which were probably the best I've ever had. Finally, we split a quesadilla which was also delicious. We had to take home quite a bit as the servings are very generous. We'll definitely being going back and trying some other items. ...
