Crafty Cow - Burgers & Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Wauwatosa

This place has service problems going back to post pandemic. We used to be regular customers, but after repeated poor service, topped by todays bad experience... We were not greeted upon entering, after waiting a bit for one of the staff members to acknowledge our presence we asked one of people that appeared to get paid to be there if we could be seated- the short response, "some will seat us shortly." ok more waiting. the young man clearing tables seated us. No request if we wanted something while we waited, just gone. Now the wait begins. a young lady who provided extremely slow service the last time we ate here appeared to be the waitress. As she cleared the table next to us, making no eye contact or acknowledgement.( no "I'll be right with you, or can i get you a drink or something you get started?") Here we go again.. The wait continues.. she talks to her co-worker at the bar, then disappears in the kitchen.. Waiting continues.. Other employee that seated us brings out food (food!) to another table, and again without making eye contact or saying anything encouraging disappears into the kitchen. We really like the food here, they serve one of my favorite menu items here only. The beer selection is good, all positive reasons to bring money and give it to them. Until we get to service, which is so pathetic and so consistently pathetic with no apparent improvement or concern for improvement. The wait staff is more interested in talking to each other rather than the customer. Weird right? Our last visit last summer, we watched our beer order sit on the end of the bar for five minutes or more. I finally walked up and got them myself. The next beer I ordered from the waitress we watched her pick it up, then hold it in her hot little hands during an extended conversation with the bartender. Ummm warm beer. Anyway to stop this rant, we waiting for 15-20 minutes today without contact from a sentient wait staff person, and decided we don't want this and its obvious they don't want our business. So we left. for good. We can take a hint. There's...

Really liked the food, super juicy burgers and lots of flavor on them. We were super excited about this place since they had just joined the halal food scene and our server was very kind in letting us know what was suitable for our diet and what wasn't. We were given other options when we found out the fries didn't work with our diet, which we appreciated but were disappointed because... Burger and fries... But we're hopeful they'll work soon.

One thing that really bothered me was the choice of music, it was hard to sit through the explicit lyrics while I was trying to enjoy my food, it wasn't even like an occasional f-bomb was dropped, it was literally every 5th word was a curse word and made me want to quickly finish my food so I could leave. It went from alternative to explicit as soon as our food came out. A little past midway through our meal I think our server noticed me cringing and asked the people in the kitchen to change it. We still ate quickly and left just in case it came back.

Other than that, the restaurant was clean, (the bathrooms needed some cleaning and a refresh of paper towels), the decor was fun, but for a Wednesday afternoon and 2 parties of less than 4 people, at least the bathrooms should have been cleaner.

That was my first impression though, I'll go back once they have more food options for us and update my review with hopefully a much better experience (the server was genuinely kind and we could tell they were trying to...

We went last night! I was so excited to try this place. So many people recommend this place for great burgers. From the moment we got there I was disappointed. There is no place to wait for the hostess so she can sit you. We had to wait for all the pick ups before we could even ask for a table. The hostess then tried to sit us at a small table next other people when there plenty of other tables open. When I asked her if we could sit at a different table she actually rolled her eyes. The whole rest of the time we were there she leaned on the host stand playing on her phone. Waitress came over introduce herself and then left before taking our drink order. When she finally came back we ordered everything for fear she would not come back and boy were we right. The cheesecurds and burgers were lukewarm and our fries were cold but also burnt. My burger was nothing to rave home about the only reason why I ate all of it was I was straving. I would of said something to our waitress but she never came and checked on us till we were done and wanted to leave. When i asked for the bill righy away she acted like I asked for the end of world. Then sje did several other things and finally bought our bill. I would not recommend this place...
