I'm on a bit of a quest to find the best chinese restaurant, judging them on two things.. Wonton Soup and Spring rolls. Great Taste doesn't have spring rolls so I substituted them for egg rolls, and I wish I would've substituted the wonton soup with something. To me, wonton soup is a broth, with chives and a lot of stuffed wonton dumplings floating around, at Great Taste, it's a cabbage soup, with bamboo shoots, snow peas and other vegetables with a few tiny pieces of meat floating around and... undercooked wonton wrappers that were falling apart. I had assumed they were cheap on the wontons, giving me only two and the rest of the stuff was filler, and I didn't mind the filler... I go for these two things because they're lite, so having the veg in it wasn't a problem, but when i got to the wontons that I felt they were cheap on to begin with I realized they were just lumps of undercooked dough, I couldn't eat it. I started to picture this kitchen nightmares, "this stuff has just been sitting in a warm freezer scenario", so i didn't finish it even though I liked the veg and the broth was okay, the wonton wrappers just made me feel sick.
The egg roll, was a weird one... it taste great, but very different. I feel as if they had cinnamon or nutmeg in the stuffing. It tasted good, but different.
Both of these things could've been because of the time I went there, but I feel as if these things could've been better, again I liked the egg roll, I just don't imagine...
Read moreI ordered from Great Taste after reading the Google reviews and thinking the food would be really good. This was hands down the most disgusting Chinese food I've ever had, and possibly the worst food I've ever eaten. And I love food. I don't waste food. This on the other hand, I couldn't even finish and threw all the leftovers out. They told me my food would take 45 min. to deliver, which made me think it was all being handmade. GREAT! Wrong. This looked like it had been sitting out for days, the taste was a close second to garbage, there were little hairs in the sesame chicken, and it had stringy tendons still left in it. Don't get me wrong, I have no fantastical ideas of how Chinese Food is made...I'm no fool. But this seriously made me question exactly what it is I was eating. And the dumplings were not only cold, but mushy and a few of them had a foul order. SICK. I'm going to go...
Read moreOk listen up you fruit cakes. This place is bomb. To the lady with the shellfish allergy... what did you expect. Not a single restaurant recommends ordering from them if they have shellfish, for that exact fear.
I have been ordering Chinese food exclusively from Great Taste. The guy who answers the phone? Yeah, he's short with you. He's to the point. He's exactly what I want in ordering food.
Me: Hello, I want and order for carryout. Him: What you want? (Don't be a douche, English isn't his first language) Me: Pork Fried Rice, egg roll, wonton soup. Him: Ok, 15 minutes. click
If you wanted someone to hold your hand when you order, go to your momma's place, because that ain't this place.
