First let me tell you about the Taco Tuesday scam, then I'll review the food.
The lady working today told us that it's Taco Tuesday and pointed to the table tent I have in my pics. We told her we'd get that - 1 of each flavor for me and my wife just wanted 2 chicken. She said no problem.
The food came and it didn't have the chips and salsa with it. When we asked she said it's because taco Tuesday doesn't come with that. A little annoying that she didn't let us know that since the price to order it by itself makes taco Tuesday more expensive than regular days, but fine. No worries, we ordered the chips.
After eating we looked at the bill and noticed what we thought was a mistake but turns out to be the scam. Here's the conversation:
"It says the tacos are $3.50 each but you charged us $4.50." - "Yeah, I had to charge you the regular menu price. The only tacos that are taco Tuesday are ground beef"
"Uhm, not only didn't you tell us that, but ground beef isn't even on the menu. We didn't even know that was an option." - "I don't know why it's not."
"Why didn't you tell us when we ordered?" - "I don't know"
"Okay, but it says 'Taco Tuesday on our bill" - "I don't know why it says that"
"Okay, fine. But if you charged us for the regular menu items why didn't you serve the chips and salsa with it? You charged us extra for something that comes with the regular meal, the meal you said you charged us for." - "Well you asked for the taco Tuesday meal, which doesn't come with chips and salsa."
"But you charged us for the regular meal." - "I don't know why the computer rings it up like that, I just know that if you don't ask for ground beef then I'm supposed to charge you regular price.
" BUT YOU DIDN'T TELL US ABOUT THE GROUND BEEF. IT'S NOT EVEN ON YOUR MENU! AND YOU DIDN'T GIVE US EVERYTHING THAT CAME WITH A REGULAR ORDER." - "Yeah, I don't know. I can probably take something off your bill if you really want it."
Check the receipt and menu and you'll see that not only did we pay $10 more than we should have, we didn't even get everything she said she charged us for.
Anyway, on to the food! Keep in mind that despite the above, this is an honest review.
This place seems to specialize in removing all flavor from things that are inherently flavorful.
Truffle fries: ⭐⭐ It was an interesting choice to use these fries. Most places use shoestring because potatoes really kill a lot of flavor. You can barely taste the toppings, and the truffle flavor is more of a scent than a flavor. We always get truffle fries anywhere that serves them because we love them, but my wife had 1 and pushed the plate away. I liked them fine as fries, but not truffle fries
Tacos: ⭐⭐⭐ These were fine. Not bad, but nothing special. I think one had a piece of cilantro, which was nice.
Chips and salsa: ⭐ The salsa has never even been stored in the same room as a pepper. If the chips had had any salt on them it would have spiced up the salsa by association. The beer cheese was pretty good and was the spiciest thing in our entire order. (I wish that was just a snarky joke, but...
Read moreStopped on today (July 5th) around 2 pm. Our server Allison had no tables in there yet, awesome! We sit down, we get menus, super brief introduction. We order our entrees and an appetizer and off we go.
Kids meals come out first, which was great. No one wants hungry kids waiting. 10-ish minutes later our entrees come out, all correct. THEN the appetizer/shareable that I said we were STARTING with comes out. After everything.
Okay no problem, it was good nonetheless.
The steak tacos I got- not so much. I took one big bite, and it was a let down for me. Wasn't a fan.
After we see Allison speak to the bartender for the entire time we were sitting here, we have had empty waters for well over 20 minutes now. And the plate with my entire taco entree- like 90% of it- was still there.
She notices the empty waters finally, brings over a pitcher for us. I ask her to take the tacos back. Not a word is spoken, no asking why, was anything wrong- nada. Not even a question to ask if I want anything else.
Fast forward to the bill, still has the tacos on it, we ask if she can remove it.
She walks away muttering something about a manager. We can CLEARLY see her not speak to anyone and she came back with two voucher/coupons for this spot. We tell her we're here on a vacation. Allison DID not like that answer. She yet again said she would have to grab a manager, whom she didn't speak too for another 20 minutes. All of this is happening in front of us, the whole time. Manager comes over to ask why we need it off the bill, Allison said I ate half of the dish. And I quote "why do you need it off the bill when you ate a whole taco and half of the chips and salsa?" The dish that had almost everything left on the plate. So now she's lying? Great awesome time here guys. Manager was great, lying inattentive server shouldn't work with customers if she doesn't want them there. You had two tables, and didn't...
Read moreTerrible experience. I sought help after I was robbed. I'm not from around the area but I figured I could find help from someone if I talked to the manager. I talked to the manager and she seemed legitly conserned and compassionate and said hang on let me see what I got were I and if she can help. 2 mins later a waitress came back and said real fast, "sorry my manager got a phonecall and is busy and she told me to tell you she's got no money for gas and there's no help here". I turned walked out got in my vehicle sat for a second and noticed that there was like 5 people standing by the door staring at me and laughing. I went there embarrassed enough having to ask for help, to be turned away and became the laughing stock of the establishment. It was a god awful experience and I don't wish that upon my worst enemy. I eventually sought help with the police department and it was there that I was actually able to find any kind of help.. Thank you Wauwatosa Police Department for all your assistance. Through all the horrible people I came into contact with last night and not one person helped a woman crying begging for help because I was robbed, I question what is this world coming to. What the heck if the shoe was on the other foot and it was one of you or one of your own children this happened to and no one came to help. Think about it. Have more compassion for others you never know the hell they've just gone through. Open your eyes people, what kind of world is this place gonna be when my children are all grown. At least I'm teaching them how important personal integrity is and what compassion is all about. And to anyone who was wondering and laughing thinking I was drunk. I blew .000 BAL. Thank again World of Beer. I'm glad I get freedom of speech because others need to hear. How I was treated. I hope this was an eye...
