I came across this delightful cafe while traveling the backroads between Dallas and Waco. It is a small place and I almost didn’t stop but I am so glad I did. Walking through the entrance I was transported back to the late seventies, felt like I had stepped into 1978 and it was glorious! The place is small with just a few tables, so I bellied up to the bar and ordered a nice large iced tea. The menu itself looked like it was typed on a typewriter and if it was not for the modern prices, I would have sworn it was actually a menu from 1978. The place was filled with several regulars that you just knew came there almost every day. Since I was in that seventies state of mind, I ordered the Grilled Chopped Steak ( aka Salisbury Steak ) it was so good, I gobbled that sucker right up. I was actually kind of sad to leave the place. If I lived in Waxahachie, I could easily see myself trying to eat here at least once a week… go give it a try!

Cute and great service! Highly recommend this as a stop if you drive through. Every staff member has a smile on their face and they are so kind and attentive. The wait they gave us for 3 people, was 20min… we sat in 10min :) We chose to sit outside on the picnic tables … perfect sunny day with a cool breeze created the best atmosphere for a comfy, enjoyable late breakfast. The dishes were simple and affordable … nothing fancy or pricey but it was exactly what we wanted. The biscuits you could tell are homemade, not canned. Very happy with the meal. We were all full at the end. This will be our go to spot next time we travel this way! (You should absolutely add this to your stops as well) Thank you to our waitress, she definitely got her steps in, dark hair in a braid. You were so kind and attentive!

We were a little late getting started from Dallas to Round Rock and neither had eaten yet. As I looked at Google maps the restaurant prospects were not promising until I spotted Country Café only about 1 mile off 35E at Exit 399A in Waxahachie, TX. Everything looked exactly like what we were looking for. We got their Cowboy Special which is served M-F 6:30 - 10:45 for $9.25. The 2 eggs and bacon were cooked exactly the way we asked; the coffee was excellent; and the service (by Sammi) was perfect. We left the place promising ourselves that we would be back the next time we were in the area (maybe to attend the Scarborough Faire which is only 7 minutes away?).

We left here well fed... OK stuffed, and happy. We've driven past a billboard advertising the Country Cafe in Waxahachie for months but it didn't list an address. Today we were out and about in Waxahachie at breakfast time so we Googled it - on 77 just south of the city center, past the Ark Country Store. Don't blink or you'll miss this tiny place. Well worth the hunt, it's one small room with a handful of tables, very friendly, bilingual staff, and traditional comfort food cooked to order. We sat at the front counter with a view of the kitchen so we were able to see food being made from scratch, including the 'country fried steak' my hubby chose. He usually orders that if it's on a menu, and apparently this one was excellent. I probably wouldn't come here if I was in a hurry. However, this is a great place to enjoy some people watching, or maybe chatting with your table neighbors while you wait for your plate of down home goodness to land in front of you. Now we finally know where this little gem is...

Omg this place is our new favorite place!! Definitely the best brkft in town hands down!!! 1st visit we ended up ordering lunch also which was fish and it is on point!!!! However we did stop in today and neither of us cared for the chicken and dressing 😭😭😭 the gravy was good and I didn't care for the sweet potatoes either. Our son did order the steak for breakfast this weekend and then again today at lunch and he absolutely loved it both times and said he loved the fries which I did steal 1 and they are good. Update went today they had new staff and they was having language issues with the cooks and unfortunately that ended with 2 well done steak and eggs instead of medium. Service how ever still great food today was just food. We however did watch 3 tables come behind us and order after us and they all ate and left be4 we got our breakfast. Hopefully this was...
