Extremely disappointed in the customer service. I called in my order on Sunday about 30minutes ahead of time (as my 1 hour lunch break was to begin at 2:30p so I placed my order about 1:50p) I have learned from personal past experiences that they are busy at times on Sunday’s. The young lady that took my call in order assured me that my food would be ready within 15-20 minutes. I arrived to pick up my food at 2:30 and I waited an additional 10 minutes in my car once I arrived and saw a full parking lot. I went inside to get my Order after 40 minutes of the order being placed. I was advised that they were still working on my order so I went outside and patiently sat down and waited an additional 20 minutes before going back in (3:10p) to inquire a second time about my order only to be advised that there were still 2 orders ahead of mines. (After over an hour) I furiously informed them to go ahead and cancel my order and left the restaurant. This is the 3rd time that I have experienced this similar situation at this restaurant. It’s very disappointing when you try to support a business and in return you feel a slap in the face. My lunch break was spent on waiting for food that I called in to be picked up and they failed to deliver within an hour. I feel that they should be up front with customers by advising us when we call in to place an order for pick up on their busy days that the wait time might exceed up to an hour or more, instead of being focused on just making money. A simple heads up would allow the customer the opportunity to decide if they want to wait or not. My time is just as valuable as the business. I could have just left after being told that there were still 2 orders ahead of me and not tell them to cancel the order but I did not feel it necessary to have them waste the food even though I ended up wasting gas on this trip. Please do better because this is very...
Read moreSo let’s get into it! This review is not to discourage anyone from visiting. First the welcoming and jazz music playing was refreshing to the soul. Each person that walked in was greeted as if we were a part of the family. Definitely great to experience! 10 out of 10. Food: 5 out of 10 I wasn’t impressed with the food. Very disappointing for it to be a soul food restaurant. I wouldn’t say the food is the best however it wasn’t all that bad. The menu stated Catfish however it’s a fish substitute which is a GMO. The hot water corn bread and collard greens was very delicious actually I wish I had purchased an order to go. The macaroni was good just too creamy and thick for me but very flavorful. Although my first experience of the food wasn’t the best I will support this business again because of the many different options it does have on the menu. This Restaurant: 10 out of 10 So why this restaurant will get my business again, why I’m going to make sure they are recognized on my FB page, and why I’m bringing my friends and family here. For one I appreciate the waitress and owner taking notice of me not eating my food. I’m not one who goes out looking for discounts and reasons to complain so I was very shocked at the attention the owner provided me especially after I was trying to be discreet about it. The one thing I’m big on is a person who doesn’t allow pride to get in the way of criticism. I was very upfront about the food and how displeased I was. Not one time did the owner snap at me or became defensive but she was so polite and very professional; she apologized and even offered to pack me up another meal to go. SHE DEFINITELY was raised right. Very genuine response! I didn’t want her doing that at the time but man oh man I wish I told her to pack the entire pot of collard greens for me. She was a sweet heart and that my friends is why I’ll...
Read moreThe food is awesome! I have been here 3 times but each time the service gets worse. It’s better to come during the week. DO NOT come on Saturday or Sunday. They do not have the staff to handle all the people. We came on a Sunday and I noticed that there were a lot of people inside. I stood in line to get a table. I advised the lady that my grandfather, who is 96 years of age, needed to sit down and he sat at a table towards the back. She said that was fine. The lady behind me in line had a very large group so they sat in a booth waiting for a larger table. There were only 3 people working in the restaurant. That seems to be a common occurrence. We sat down and we were then asked to move to another booth with my elderly grandfather to accommodate a large party. Reluctantly we moved. This was the same large group that was behind me in line. They then began taking the large party’s order. I advised the waiter that again we were seated before them and should have had our order taken first. I wasn’t trying to cause a scene but there needs to be a better process with seating. Then on busy days (specifically the weekends) there should be more waiters/waitresses and a host. They had to pull the cook from the kitchen to help with serving! I definitely want this restaurant to be successful but I won’t be returning unless they can provide...
