Believe the Reviews
If I could give zero stars, I would. The City of Waxahachie Water Department has some of the worst customer service I’ve encountered. Both the representatives and supervisors are rude and condescending. My bill fell behind due to life’s challenges, and I simply forgot to pay it. When I remembered, customer service was already closed, so I went ahead and paid one of the overdue amounts plus an additional $10.
The next morning, I woke up to find my water had been shut off because I was $2 short. The total amount due had to be under $135, and I paid $150.00. I called customer service, and the representative, as usual, was indifferent and passed me on to her supervisor, who had the same unhelpful attitude. She kept playing word games, repeatedly telling me what was due as if I didn’t already know, while I explained that I paid what I thought would prevent disconnection.
She then told me to read the city ordinance, which states that the balance must be under $135 for the water to stay on. I honestly believe it’s up to whoever is behind the screen whether they cut you off for being short by $1 or $2. I had to explain to this woman that, like everyone else, life happens—FMLA, job loss, reduced hours—and no one is exempt. I plan to file a complaint with the BBB because they are taking advantage of vulnerable people and piling on...
Read moreDidn't know we had a leak til we got the bill. By the time you get a bill, the next month is being read. And since I didn't know upon receipt, it was too late the address the next read. PLUS uou only get 1 time to be late one month, no matter the situation. Plus, when I tried to escalate, they said we could not go into an office to discuss. They gave me a chair in the middle of the hallway where everybody goes in and out. So all my business could be dicussed publicly. It was demoralizing and inhumane that they wouldn't even move us when I'm crying because I can't believe the treatment I got.
I found a service that would pay past due balances only plus my gas and electric companies worked with me since the water department wouldn't. But the worst of all this was the treatment of acting like I was low life scum because of this. Someone needs to do an overhaul and get some true southern hospitality people in there but also change your procedures. There's a huge difference between being a lazyv bum who doesn't pay their bill versus a undetected leak with thousands of dollars that you have a month to pay, or else. Since this has happened to me, I've heard worse horror stories than mine. We need to all get together and take a trip to a City Hall meeting when Water Dept Officials will be...
Read moreEdit: These people now want to charge 3% for using auto pay. They want me to waste my time to bring them a check. Plz! Someone end this! When will Waxahachie wake up and fire these criminals.
Edit: Send these people to jail plz. My water consumption hasn't gone up, but my bill is 33% higher from just a year and a half ago.
Edit: The water department replaced all the meters in the neighborhood, and magical my bill dropped from $300 to $60. There is no explanation still for extremely high bills.
Edit: I was in my house for a year, and a couple of months ago, my bill doubled. We shut the water off and called a plumber, but he found no leaks. The water department had no answers. The next month, it's doubled again. This is ridiculous. We talked to others in the neighborhood, and they experienced the same thing. There has to...
