On 4/25/20, I attempted to place an initial delivery order 3 times via Gary's Wayne website. Unfortunately, following each of my 3 attempts, I received a notice from my internet security provider that it was a "dangerous site", and I was prohibited from moving forward. Being a longstanding customer, I, of course, knew Gary's to be a credible business, but, as the saying goes, "I had to do what I had to do". So, I called the store and was greeted by a young woman who stated she would gladly take my order. She noted that sometimes the website can be a "pain" and that they've had problems with it from time to time. MY ONLY REQUEST TO GARY'S IS THAT THIS ISSUE BE LOOKED INTO AND HOPEFULLY REMEDIED, as I am apparently not the only customer to encounter difficulty when accessing their online ordering process. Anyway, why the 5 stars? Foremost, it was is the staff member who assisted via phone. Simply stated, her service was excellent! She was patient and thorough when searching for products. Whenever necessary, she readily searched the inventory to find suitable equivalents, especially with edible products, of which their were many in my order. Upon completion of ordering, I was given an estimated delivery time and was informed that I could expect a text confirming my order, which I received shortly thereafter. To my pleasant surprise, my order was actually delivered only a few hours later by a fellow wearing a mask and gloves.Overall, I would certainly recommend Gary's! Aside from the website snag I encountered, ordering was a seamless process, thanks to a fine staff member who agreed to take my order by phone, and to the warehouse and delivery staff who made sure my order was processed so expeditiously. Read moreLOVE gary's. staff is so friendly and helpful. they really do go out of their way to find what you're looking for, even if you didn't know what you were looking for in the first place. gary himself is there pretty regularly as well. selection is top notch, they have a wine tasting bar and usually have a variety of cheeses for sampling as well. if you ever want to see how the other half live, venture into the climate controlled wine room with the expensive stuff. yikes.
besides the wine though, they have an amazing selection of alcohol from all over the world. want 20 different brands of tequila? sure. 20 kinds of rum? no problem. pretty expansive beer section as well. it's fun just to walk around and explore the huge selection of exotic alcohol brands and flavors available. everything is reasonably priced (well, except for that climate controlled room) and they have frequent sales. especially love the little cards on featured wines scattered throughout the store that provide a nice synopsis of the selection including official reviews and what it tastes like. fun to read stuff like "bold, with a currant undertone and a hint of black cherry and chocolate. great with veal". walk around the store for 15 minutes and you'll get quite the education on fine wine...
i'd say this is hands down my favorite liquor store around. between the service, the prices and the selection, you simply cannot go...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible and disappointing experience. After hearing about Gary's, we ventured from the Jersey Shore to the Madison location over the weekend. We spoke with an employee explaining that this was our visit and that we wanted to taste Gary's "labeled wines" and to explore their otherwise inventory. At the beginning, we were really disappointed in the "free wine" tasting as several of the featured wines were unavailable for tasting. We then ventured to the wine dispensing machine and no one could access any of the wines with any of the "cards" available. We then ventured up and down the very tight aisles and were disappointed in the non-competitive prices and inventory compared to either Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. When asked if we could "taste" any of "Gary's" labels, we were told none of the wine was available for tasting. It boggles my mind that one company can proffer their private label but, cannot make a tasting available. Needless to say, it was an expensive drive for very disappointing results. I can only surmise that this market capitalizes on the locals for...
