Several people recommended this place. So I figured I would try it.. little did I know that I had ordered from them several months ago and had a similar experience..
I was hosting a family dinner for 7 people. I placed the order at 2:40pm to give them time to make sure it Would be delivered at 530pm. The person on the phone said no problem. I had her read back the order to me to make sure she got everything correctly. At 5:40pm the food still was not delivered. I called and they said they driver left. At 5:50pm I called again and they didn’t answer my call. I called again, no answer. I had my husband call from his phone and they did answer. So they screen calls. Again, promised it would be there shortly. 6:12pm still no food. Had someone else call and was just told that they are very busy. Food came at 6:30pm. They forgot to include a salad for which they charged me. The kani salad was disgusting, wilted brown lettuce and crab meat that did not taste fresh. The rest of the guests seemed to enjoy their food, not sure if they were just being polite. My sushi did not seem fresh and all my rolls were either cooked/or with veggies.
I called them around 8pm to inform them of the missing salad and discuss the fact that the food came 1 hour late. They could care less. I suggested they at least refund $10 for the hassle or the missing salad and they just hung up. Horrendous customer service.
I realized this is the same place I ordered from months ago by the disgusting Kani salad and remembered then too they were over 1 hour late.
I get things happen and restaurants get busy, but if you KNOW that you will likely not deliver the food on time then be honest and disclose that. There are plenty of local business that I would have been happy to support with my $175 order.
I also tried calling the restaurant back several times and they continue to screen my calls and refused to answer. I have no idea how such a restaurant stays in business with this type of behavior.
I am aghast at all the 5 star reviews. Are you sure we are reviewing the same restaurant??
UPDATE: I ended up getting a random text message Later the same evening stating that the restaurant is willing to give me $100 in a certificate for my trouble. I called them the following day and asked to speak with the manager and owner. He did call me back two days later and agreed to send a $50 check refund as well as a $50 certificate for my trouble. He did seem apologetic and acknowledge the fact that they should not have promised the delivery time if they could not account for how busy they would be that evening. I did receive that $50 check refund and the $50 certificate in the mail about a week later.
I do appreciate the attempt at service recovery. Will be willing to try the restaurant one more time when I use the certificate. I do hope they will amend the way they take orders as well as give More accurate delivery and...
Read moreTaka? More like kaka! All jokes aside, I truly had an absolutely horrible experience at Taka. I’ll give you a summary of my night for you to decide wether you should eat at this restaurant.
The first thing that should’ve been a sign that my night would be horrible at Taka was when the lady refilled my half full sprite with water. Now it was an honest mistake and I did not say anything because everyone makes mistakes some times. This was the first thing that made me unsure about the place.
Next, we place our orders; I ask for the Pheonix and Twin Spicy rolls while my girlfriend orders the volcano and helly rolls. SO TELL ME HOW ONLY 4 ROLLS TOOK OVER AN HOUR FOR THEM TO BE BROUGHT OUT!! After about 45 minutes of waiting, I asked where the food was at. The waitress looks at me and says with a straight face, ‘You ordered.’ They didn’t even realize that we ordered. Absolutely horrible for a damn restaurant.
When the food gets taken out, TELL ME HOW THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG ROLLS!! When I tell her I ordered a Pheonix instead of whatever she gave me, she says ‘Oh i told the guy Philadelphia’. So instead of leaving the food their as a curtesy since we’ve been waiting for an hour and they gave me the wrong rolls, the lady comes back with A PAIR OF CHOPSTICKS and picks the rolls off the plate one by one. Absolutely ridiculous.
Finally, the food wasn’t good. Now it wasn’t horrible sushi, but it was below mediocre. Overall, DO NOT DINE AT TAKA! There are so many better options around the area that provide wayyy better customer service and sushi. I hope you found this review helpful, and to the people at Taka, use this review as a learning lesson to improve...
Read moreI placed an online order and arrived 10 mins after it said it would be ready to give the restaurant more time to prepare the order. I was the only person at the register and 2 people were seated. The food was not ready. I waited patiently. Another customer comes through the door and instead of finishing with me first even though i was there first the woman took the couple behind me. I let it go. Another couple comes in right after and again instead of finishing with me she took the other couple (I only ordered 3 rolls). After she finished helping the second couple she then takes another 15 minutes to get my order ready. What is the point of a pickup order? Once I finally received my food and went back to work and tried the sushi I couldn’t even finish it. I ordered shrimp tempura roll and the shrimp was sooo chewy I felt sick. I tossed it all. Waste of money and time. Never again will I be...
