Ending my abusive relationship with this Dairy Queen
Why was I even involved in an abusive relationship with a Dairy Queen? you might ask. That's a fair question, but that's part of the problem of an abusive relationship. You're willing to accept the pain for some small joy you gain. In my case, my wife and son really like their food. In particular, we all really like the gravy that comes with the chicken baskets. Other places have better chicken, like Raising Canes, or Chick Fil A, but they don't have gravy. The gravy is key here, I can't stress that enough. And it's not like we got food there every night. But sometimes, when my wife or I didn't feel like preparing a meal, I'd go grab drive thru Dairy Queen. And this is the only Dairy Queen near enough that I can stomach the drive just for fast food. But let's dive into why, exactly, this Dairy Queen is the worst ever.
Location
Right where Big Bend meets Laclede Station road in its unholy diagonal union, this place is a nightmare to get into and out of. I realize that's not exactly their fault, but it's certainly not doing them any favors. You'd think that when faced with a non ideal location, you might go out of your way to make the rest of the experience great. Oh, if only, DQ. If only.
Service
I don't know that I'd say their service is the worst I've ever experienced, but it's in the running. The staff are not motivated or particularly helpful. Not that I blame them, per say, they're minimum wage chicken jockeys. What do they care about customer experience? Except when it's every single attendant, every single time I go, it indicates a problem with management. Whoever owns this franchise clearly doesn't give a **. And so, neither do their employees. If there's no line, it usually takes me 15-20 minutes to get my food. In a drive thru. With no line. If there's a line, I am tempted to ask God to grant me a swift death. I mean, have you ever been to Chick Fil A? There can be thirty cars in line, and I'm still out of there in less time than it would take me to get into the parking lot of the cursed DQ. And those employees? I can't imagine they make much more than minimum wage, either, but holy Jeebus are they polite and helpful. It's clearly possible, DQ.
APPARENTLY I'VE EXCEEDED THE CHARACTER LIMIT. SO I'M GOING TO POST PART TWO UNDER MY WIFE'S ACCOUNT (she also hates this place...
Read moreThis is the worst DQ location I’ve ever been to!! I love DQ and have such fond memories of DQ treats growing up. Today, I took my kids there for dinner and treats. The DQ employee served a blizzard to my kids and did the whole turn it upside down thing while I was helping my other children. Of course my son thinks this is a magic trick and tries it right away resulting in dropping the entire thing all over himself. I’m busy cleaning it up with no help from staff, just a million napkins wiping the table and floor. Then I ask if we could get and replacement and the rudest manager ever, Kayla, says “No, we didn’t drop it. Go buy another one. You need to watch your kids better.” I was horrified!!! The audacity and rudeness of that comment absolutely shocked me!! At every restaurant I’ve ever been to (including other DQ locations) if someone accidentally drops something before they eat a single bite then they replace it!!! Especially a small child who was simply mimicking what the employee did and not understanding that it wasn’t magic. Shame on you DQ!!! He was sobbing and the manager told me to go buy another one. She continued being nasty and rude the whole time we were there. Shame on you Kayla for ruining our summer treat!! Go work somewhere that does not involve customer service since you are such a rude and...
Read moreAVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! This is by far the WORST dairy queen in the area. Not only is it overpriced and chinsey on servings, they are completely and totally rude. The lady in the drive thru basically barked at me through my whole order, didn't give me further instruction or thank me as I pulled up she said nothing at all. Nothing. I had my card in my hand and passed it to her.. nothing. I was staring at her the whole time to make sure I wasn't tripping, she was giving me the silent treatment. Legit. This maybe 17 year old girl was acting like a pouting child in the drive thru window giving the paying customer (who note: didn't do absolutely anything to her) the silent treatment. As she ran my card thru the machine she turned to her coworkers was singing, dancing, bantering back n forth, so she could clearly talk.. just not to us?? We were shocked. As expected she handed us both our ice creams in silence as I looked dead at her and made it a point to say "thank you" after literally every exchange at this point. Finally she handed me the final thing and I said staring dead at her "THANK YOU" still. nothing. this place is horrible. i've had many similar experiences whether it be the food, portions, prices, or staff, theres always a...
