The Jersey City Location:
Let me be very clear about the absolutely disgusting treatment I received today at Mokafé—the same place I once left a positive review for (as seen below with the owner’s response). That will never happen again.
I walked in, took a seat, and wasn’t even acknowledged. No greeting, no basic courtesy. Fine—I let it slide. I’ve been a loyal, repeat customer who orders a lot every time. But after today, I will never step foot in that establishment again.
A staff member named Jacob took my order with the most dismissive, arrogant attitude. He brought me the wrong drink, and when I calmly pointed it out, he didn’t apologize or offer to correct it—instead, he snapped, “Well, that’s what you ordered.” Completely false, and completely out of line.
Eventually, he brought the correct drink, but it didn’t stop there. I had also ordered a pizza, and after nearly 30 minutes of waiting with no update, I went up to ask about it. Jacob looked me dead in the face and, with pure attitude, said: “I can cancel it.” Excuse me?
Even his own colleagues were visibly uncomfortable with how he spoke to me. I made it crystal clear that I never want him serving me again—then I picked up my things and walked out.
I ended up dining somewhere else where I was treated with the respect every customer deserves.
Mokafé has officially lost a loyal customer, and I will absolutely be sharing this experience far and wide. Jacob’s behavior is beyond unacceptable and has completely ruined your café’s reputation in my eyes....
Read moreI recently visited this establishment and had a mixed experience. The desserts were definitely the highlight - the caramel tres leches and Biscoff tres leches were both delicious, and the iced kinder bueno was really good as well. The quality of these items was impressive.
However, I do feel the service could be better. There's room for improvement in terms of customer experience and attention to detail from the staff.
The pricing is on the higher side, though I understand this might be due to the location. While the desserts justify some of the cost with their quality, the overall value considering the service level left something to be desired.
Would I personally return? Probably not, given the service issues and pricing. However, I would still recommend this place to others, especially if you're looking for quality tres leches cakes and unique dessert options. The food itself is worth trying...
Read morecoffee shop is a delightful find! The coffee is rich and perfectly brewed, and the tea selection is just as impressive—fragrant, full-bodied, and served just right. What really sets this place apart, though, are the authentic Middle Eastern sweets. The pastries are fresh and flavorful, and the baklava is some of the best I’ve had crispy, not overly sweet, and filled with quality nuts. You can tell everything is made with care. It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy a warm drink, and indulge in a little taste of the Middle East or just something different than the regular...
