I am SHOCKED by the rude service I just encountered at Maugus Restaurant. Today I called the restaurant because my 12-year old son was going to eat lunch with some friends there. He has allergies to milk and egg so I wanted to make sure he would be able to have a sandwich. I have never encountered such HORRIBLE, VOLATILE behavior from a restaurant employee in my life. I began by asking if the woman who answered the phone could look at the ingredients in the standard white bread that they serve to make sure it was safe for my son. Clearly annoyed with me, she proceeded to tell me that "she doesn't make the bread, she has no idea what is in bread, she doesn't know how to make bread, and how is she supposed to know this information." She went on to ask me several times how I "as his mother" didn't know this information. Because she did not seem to understand the question I was asking-I tried again telling her what his allergies were (milk and egg.) I asked very politely if she would be able to check one of the packages before my son came in to eat with his friend. She repeatedly kept saying that "she had no idea about ingredients-and did I know them?" I then asked her if I would be able to speak to the manager and she said that she WAS the manager. I followed up with asking if the restaurant was trained in food allergy awareness and she claimed that they were. She then proceeded to swear at me and hang up the phone. Shocked, (and because my son really wanted to have lunch with his friends) I called back and politely told her that we may have been disconnected. She swore at me again and hung up. I understand that restaurants and businesses are under a great deal of stress right now. I get it. However, this was clear food allergy discrimination and aside from that, a terrible way of conducting business. I will NEVER eat at Maugus Restaurant and advise anyone with a food allergy to NEVER eat there. They clearly have not a care for anyone with a food allergy or in dealing with a willing,...
Read moreI came here expecting an average diner experience. What I actually got, was the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. I showed up with a friend, and we were not greeted when we walked in. We sat down, and no one came to take our orders or even offer us water, even though there were 3 waitresses walking past us regularly. finally after almost 10 minutes, one of the waiters who had walked past us numerous times, came and slammed water glasses down on our table without saying a word, and left. 5 minutes later, we had not even been given menus, and had to ask a waitress to bring some to us. Then we asked for coffee, and the waitress said no problem. 10 more minutes, and no coffee had been given to us. Again, we had to get up and ask someone for coffee . After all of this, and waiting another 30 minutes for breakfast food, it was very mediocre and the orders weren't even complete. Horrible breakfast experience.....awful service, and mediocre food at best. Skip this place if actually want to enjoy...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped at this place for the first time. We like to try dinners around the country and this place it is literally NOT a place to go. Food was horrible, I order one egg, bacon, toast and home fries which the bread was one of these get three bag of bread for 5 dollar in Stop and shop. My bacon was already bad, seems to be that was not good to serve due to maybe a bad refrigerator or something. The place itself was dirty full of dust and trash under most of the tables. Also the tables were not clean so we switch to three different tables because of that. The only restroom seems that has never been cleaning for days. Overall just do not waste your time going in there. I wish I could say better things about it since I live next town but, just please take the comment seriously and DO something for...
