For several years now, Wellsboro has been either a destination point or an overnight stopover. We try to visit at least once a year, particularly in the Fall (Rte 15 from 80 is very scenic). The town and all roads in and out provide scenes depicting the beauty of Pennsylvania; a slice of Americana. We make it a point to visit the Steakhouse on every visit. It too represents a little slice of what one might envision to be "back-home" Americana. We have always been welcomed by the owners, Geoff and Chris, as well as the servers. The quality of the food is good and it is fairly priced. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. One can readily discern that it has not changed in years, and that suites my wife and I just fine. This restaurant has the comforting feel of your favorite jeans. After a day on the road, it feels good to belly-up to the quaint bar for one of Geoff's excellent Manhattan's and catch up some. Is the Steakhouse a Ruth's Chris? No. If you are expecting something "fancy", this is not the place to go. This is an unpretentious place of solidly good comforting food; well made drinks; and excellent friendly service. Lastly, if you have an exceptionally sweet sweet-tooth, I heartily recommend Chris's coconut pie. And Geoff's meatloaf is the definition of comfort food....
Read moreThe Steakhouse is an essential stop for an exceptional dining experience in Wellsboro. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a cozy, rustic setting that promises a comfortable and relaxed meal.
The star of the show is, of course, the steak. Each cut of meat is cooked to perfection, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Whether you opt for the New York strip, ribeye, or the succulent filet mignon, you won’t be disappointed. The sides are just as impressive, with options like loaded baked sweet potatoes, garlic green beans, and asparagus that perfectly complement the main course.
In addition to steaks, the menu offers a variety of other delicious options, including fresh seafood, savory chicken dishes, and hearty pastas. The appetizers are a great start to your meal, and the desserts, such as the decadent chocolate cake, are available to provide a sweet ending.
Service is outstanding, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who are eager to make your dining experience special. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for both a romantic dinner and a family gathering.

Read moreI will never return to this place! My fiance and I were seated at 7pm after waiting 45 mins to be seated. Ordered the jumbo wings extra crispy... VERY overpriced! 6 wings for $10, sauce was a 4 out of 10, wings were crispy but have a strange taste and could've been cooked longer for my liking. We both got the demonico steak, and mashed potatoes... Steak was a 1 out of 10. ABSOLUTELY NO SEASONING! If it wasn't for the A1 sauce there would be no taste at all other than grease. We opted to add the garlic and herb butter on top of the steak and it was a quarter size slice of poor quality butter for $2. The potatoes were just potatoes. I had to ask for butter and sour cream then I had to add salt and pepper. I used the butter that came with the bread for the potatoes which was better than the specialty butter they offer. The service was extremely sloooooooow. All together it took almost 2.5 hours for our meal from getting there to walking out. The waitress took off multiple times and would take forever to return. We had to go to the bar to pay our bill and the owners still made us wait for the waitress. No thanks, they can keep the trash. We drove 1.5 hours for nothing! Waste of money. Everyone brags about this place and I...
