Atmosphere- 3 stars- Fairly New Mexican restaurant located on Main Street in Wellsboro PA. Seat yourself/counter serve style restaurant. Plenty of indoor seating with some outside.
Service- 3 stars- like I said this is counter service so kinda hard to rate however they give you a number for your table and will bring food to you. I don’t believe they have much of a staff. On the day we were there I only saw three. This could definitely be an issue if they were busy. I noticed the table outside was not cleaned up when we went inside and was still like that when we left.
Food- 4 stars- this was the highlight which is the most important part of every review. I got a two taco combo (one hard and one soft) (one with chicken and one with ground beef) the combos come with a side of rice and refried beans. Tacos were prepared fresh and were delicious especially the ground beef one. I requested regular fajitas style chicken but got shredded instead which was ok but my wife had gotten the fajitas style and it was really good. Rice was good but I wasn’t a big fan of the refried beans. We also got a cheese quesadilla which was really good- very cheesy!! They don’t give you complimentary chips here so if you want that you will need to order as a side. Overall I enjoyed my meal and would recommend...
Read moreVery disappointed in our experience today. I eat a lot here on my own because my boyfriend works a lot. Thought it would be nice to come here for Mother’s Day because he knows I enjoy the food here. He was very excited to try the birria tacos here and unfortunately they never came.
They have changed the way that you order. We came to the register where orders are usually placed, the menus on the TV are no longer on. We waited for a couple minutes before anyone acknowledged us and we were taken to a table. Now you order at the table, but the service was slow. The server was new, but he didn’t get the order right and was not the one who tried to make it right. My boyfriend was looking forward to the birria tacos all week, and it put a damper on our day. He was also upset because they ran his card right at the table and he felt obligated to tip well because the owner ran the card right at the table and was watching him. The new setup would be great if service was more attentive and the server got the order right. We had to get our own boxes and water was never refilled. Complimentary dessert for Mother’s Day was a...
Read moreDELICIOUS! I had the pozole, which reminded me of my mother's that she made for my family every New Years Eve. Squeeze some lime into it in the beginning and every once in a while when the flavors need a stirring - drop the tortilla chips and radish slices and do the same with them, too. Break up big chunks of meat to enjoy some shredded spoonfuls of flavor. Amazing flavor. A true gem.
We also had the barbacoa dinner, which I turned into a few tacos, since it came with corn tortillas. And we had a torta, which did not disappoint. Tacos get a lot of love, but a good torta - a heartwarming sandwich - can really fill you up when needed. Finally, we got the horchata. Not too sweet, only just sweet enough, which is exactly my preference. Because he didn't put ice in it, I drank it pure and creamy the whole way, while the average American will probably opt to add ice in it, which is completely fine, too. The owner made it my and my...
