El Salsa's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Wendell

The cheese dip and salsa is good. I would come back just for that, but other than that my food was not good. I ordered the combo, beef burrito and chicken quesadilla. The chicken quesadilla is literally just shredded chicken. No flavor, not seasoning, nothing. It tastes like it's from a can. Even when I added some beans, rice, sour cream, salt, and cheese dip it was not good. There's no masking the bland, dry, canned meat taste. The burrito is hard to describe what's wrong, because it did have flavor, but....not what I want to keep putting into my mouth. It just tasted off. Beans and rice are bland and flavorless. Kids meals the same. Chicken Enchilada and beef burrito. My husband got a Torta Cabana. There wasn't much meat, but he says it had great flavor. We got there about 4:30. It took 20 minutes to get our food and they were not busy only 5-6 tables. I was overly excited about a New Mexican joint but after the food was served was really disappointed. With a name of el salsa I expected a really good salsa but it tasted like watered down ketchup and the food was bland. My wife ordered a steak quesadilla but it came out not being steak but shredded pork. The place looked great and the people were friendly. But I’m sticking with El Jimador for the money is a whole lot better and alot faster. I hate to leave such a bad review as I was really excited about a New Mexican joint but agave was so much better. This restaurant has been building a lot of hype and I’m happy to say they have delivered. From the warm greeting at the host stand to the friendly service, you can tell they care. The food wasn’t only good it was excellent. The steak was tender, chicken juicy, and maybe most impressive were the shrimp. This is a benchmark I use for all Mexican restaurants and they passed with flying colors. One of the owners (Andres) made sure to check and make sure everything was perfect which is a nice touch.
