I stopped in because the place me and my friend were trying to go to closed in an hour and we didn't wanna show up and have to rush since it was the last hour.
I ordered chilaquiles and some margaritas. And to make sure to try the tacos in got 2 tacos as well. (Tacos weren't that good tbh 3.8/5 , but the chilaquiles i would give a 4.1/5 the beans and rice were surprisingly super fresh and soft and fluffy and just honestly tasted so good.
The drinks were pretty good and decently priced. (8/10)
The place seemed pretty lively and the everyone was in good energy.
I think it's just me but I wasn't liking the waitress 's "pushy" attitude. I feel like she wasn't reading the room and kept coming to the table and saying comments that I found kind of annoying..
I already ate two tacos , 2 drinks, and a bunch of chips when I was slowly working on my chilaquiles when she came around ..
And she was saying "oh so you don't like the food" "Are you sure everything is okay? It doesn't seem like you liked the food" " I'll just bring you another drink since atleast you liked that" she was trying to be playful and joke around in Spanish but I was kind of annoyed. I was just.. eating my food slow because me and my friend were 3 drinks in.. chatting it up.. Having a great time.. And she just kept coming around to "make sure" everything was okay and we said yes.. and would smile and keep it short and I kept telling her the food is great I'm just eating slow. But she kept pushing the fact that maybe something is wrong and I can just tell her..
I ended up just asking my food to go with me because I didn't even wanna eat it anymore with her breathing down my my neck every 15 mins.
I know she was just trying to be nice but I think she should have listened the first 5 times when I said we were great, food is great, we are just having a good time.
Bill came. And because i felt like she meant well. Still tipped $26 for the 1 hour and 40 mins we were there. (bill was like $90 before tip )
I would still...
Read moreI’m truly so happy to recommend Don Pepe catering; Gabi, Roberto, and their team were amazing to work with, beyond our expectations. We used them for our company’s event, which included 300+ team members split in two shifts over 5+ hours. We are a picky crew that can be difficult to please, and for this event we only had positive reviews. Some comments were that the food was, "very good, tasty and enough to enjoy,” “perfect,” and that we should be sure to “get a little sample of everything" because it was all so good.
Everything about Don Pepe catering was wonderful- the entrees, the dessert, the portions, the team, and their speed, preparation and flexibility. I'm glad we went with Roberto's entree suggestions and I highly recommend them all- the chicken tinga, beef fajitas, puerco en verde, and poblanos. We appreciate everything they did to help make our meeting a success and they're at the top of our list for...
Read moreI love their 'carne en su jugo', one of their specialties. The broth isn't as oily as in a lot of other restaurants but it's just as flavorful. The meat they use is also very well trimmed so you don't get those nasty pieces of fat. If I don't order this, I also love the torta ahogada. That tomato sauce that's paired with it is magnificent, very well seasoned And of course, I can't forget about their tacos al vapor and their papa don Pepe! Something you can't get anywhere else ! That mustard sauce and chipotle sauce are incredible
That being said, I usually order their specialities because I know they're the best I've had.
Highly recommended for their specialties. Whenever I'm in little village, I make sure to pay...
