Forget all the other Mexican restaurants you've been to get down here....NOW! My wife and I chose Nuevo Leon to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary and I can't believe I waited so long to try a restaurant in Little Village. When we were seated they brought over the chips and salsa and it was off to a great start, thick, fresh chips and 4 different salsas. This was just the beginning of great things to come. For an appetizer we were each brought out a tortilla shell with a pork rib in red sauce...another winner! Then we ordered, my wife ordered a combination platter and I got the carne asada fajitas. They also have Coke and it's available in cans or glass bottle, just keeps getting better, couldn't wait for the dinner to show up. I heard my meal coming before I even seen it! Here's what I saw on the plate, refried beans that were homemade due to their dark color, colorful mexican rice that was a vibrant orange color, a cooked jalapeno pepper and coiled onion, a bed of thinly sliced potatoes and the amazing skirt steak. Ofcoarse I asked for the corn shells and it was time to eat! I started with a bite of the rice, BEST I've ever had, soft and flavorful! I then moved over to the refried beans and after one bite my eyes rolled into the back of my head, these refried have just ruined it for every other place out there...seriously!! I then made my 1st fajita with the skirt steak, some of the jalapeno pepper and onion and the potato strip....GAME OVER!!! At this point I had just had the best Mexican rice, refried beans and carne asada fajitas I've ever had! I shared some with my wife and she was also blown away but she then shared a bite of a tamale with me. Now I've tried tamales before and just didn't care for them....guess what, this tastes like NO OTHER tamale I'd ever tried, am I dreaming here?!?! I finished my late, no kidding huh and then they brought out a desert, cut up fruit with this sauce and it too was very good. Our server was very good, he was very courteous and nice and engaging with us and the food spoke for itself and without a doubt he got a 40% tip from us and it was well worth it! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying something new on the menu, THE BAR IS HIGH @ NUEVO LEON!

Nuevo Leon Restaurant is a place where the energy is contagious, the ambiance is lively, and the flavors are truly unforgettable. The incredible staff made the entire experience feel smooth and welcoming. But it was the chicken tostadas that turned an ordinary meal into something extraordinary. When my plate arrived, it felt like receiving three culinary masterpieces, each one perfectly crafted and brimming with everything you could want in a traditional Mexican dish. The tostadas were crispy and golden, offering a satisfying crunch that contrasted beautifully with the rich fillings. Each tostada was generously piled with juicy, tender chicken that practically melted in your mouth. The chicken was so succulent and flavorful, with just the right amount of seasoning and spice, it was a masterclass in how to cook chicken. The combination of refried beans, fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes, creamy queso fresco, and a generous drizzle of creamy crema brought an exciting symphony of flavors to the plate. Each bite was an explosion of contrasting textures and tastes, from the smooth richness of the beans to the crunch of the lettuce and the bright pop of the tomatoes. The creamy queso fresco added a mild tang, while the crema tied everything together with its delicate richness. The amount of flavor in just a single bite left me speechless. The chicken, tender and juicy, created the foundation for the entire dish, and I could feel the passion and expertise in every bite. It was clear that the chefs at Nuevo Leon truly knew what they were doing, they had crafted perfection. This wasn’t just a meal; it was magic on a plate, a true celebration of traditional Mexican cuisine done with elegance and heart. This experience is one that I won’t soon forget, and I’ll undoubtedly be back to savor it again.

When it comes to Mexican food, Little Village is one of the best neighborhoods in Chicago with a large variety of Mexican cuisine and styles of cooking from different regions of Mexico. Nuevo Leon Restaurant is one of the few restaurants that has evolved over the years, and survived the major changes in the neighborhood. This place has become like an institution in Little Village, being run by first, second, third and fourth generation family members. It doesn't matter where you come from, or your background, once you taste their cuisine, you get hooked. I have been coming here for many years, and I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal here. The staff is very attentive and on top of everything. The owners are always walking around greeting their patrons, making sure that they are all satisfied with your food and service. If for some odd reason you're not happy with the food you ordered, they are always more than willing to remake it to your satisfaction, or assist you with the menu so you can pick something else. Bottom line is, if you're in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood, Nuevo Leon Restaurant is a must for anyone craving real authentic Northern Mexican food.

I love taking my family here. We drive all the way from Indiana whenever we are craving amazing tacos. Service has always been amazing and top notch. The older man who always happens to be our waiter is phenomenal. Even the bussers are always on top of everything. My mother is a very picky person because her food is equivalently amazing. When I brought her here, she loved everything she got. I have been ordering the Barbacoa tacos and highly recommend them. They melt in your mouth! We have gone on a slow night and super busy night, both times service remained the same. The waiter even thanked us for being a very friendly table and always making his night after all the problematic customers. (We heard a lady give her order and when she got her food she started screaming it was wrong. She did not like that we told her and the waiter that she did order what was given to her. Maybe because she knew she was in the wrong and couldn't yell at us. The waiter remained so calm. Props to him for dealing with that C U next tuesday!) My friends are in love with their chips and salsas. We've only ever encountered one issue where our meal was given to the wrong table and that other customer started screaming her head off at them. Everyone's human and we make mistakes. Our waiter apologized for everything and my mom was understanding. They brought her meal right out and again our waiter came to apologize. I don't understand bitter people who love making waiters lives miserable. Stay at home and make your own food if your parents didn't give you a proper education on how to treat others! I will keep recommending this place to my friends and family. We love the little road trip to our destination. Food is amazing and the people working there have always been...
