Easy Does It, located in Logan Square, Chicago, is well-regarded for its back patio, especially during the warmer months. Here's a review of what you can generally expect:
Vibe and Atmosphere: â Lively and Chill (with a catch): The patio is described as where Easy Does It "comes alive" in the summer. It's a relaxed and unpretentious space, making it suitable for casual meet-ups, dates, or simply enjoying a glass of wine. However, the proximity to the CTA Blue Line train tracks means that every few minutes, the roar of passing trains can be quite jarring and momentarily disrupt conversations. This can be a significant detractor for some, especially if seeking a quiet, intimate setting. â Spacious and Dog-Friendly: It's noted for being a spacious outdoor area, and it's also dog-friendly, welcoming leashed pets. â Dynamic: The patio often hosts pop-ups, such as vegan food from Herbivore or smashburgers from Natties & Patties, adding variety to the experience. Weekend nights can also feature DJ sets, creating a more lively atmosphere, which can sometimes blend with or even somewhat mask the train noise.
Offerings: â Natural Wine Focus (at a price): Easy Does It is primarily a natural wine bar. Their wine selection is extensive and approachable, with fun and descriptive labels that make it less intimidating for those new to natural wines. You can get wine by the glass or bottle. However, be prepared for prices that lean towards the expensive side, particularly for their natural wine selections. While they do offer happy hour deals, a casual evening can quickly add up. â Beyond Wine: While wine is the star, they also offer a full bar with craft beer, cider, and a selection of cocktails, including classics. They also have non-alcoholic options. â Snacks: You can usually find a selection of light snacks, including cheese plates. Pop-ups might offer more substantial food options.
The patio at Easy Does It is a popular spot in Logan Square, known for its laid-back atmosphere and excellent natural wine selection. It's a great choice if you're looking for a comfortable outdoor space to enjoy good drinks and a social setting. However, be mindful of the higher price point for drinks and the frequent, loud interruptions from the overhead train if you prefer a quieter or more...
Read moreWe went there around 6pm on a Friday night . It wasn't too busy and there was plenty of seating outside. While we were there it did get busier throughout the night. The vibes were good. The food and the drinks were very OVERPRICED. Mediocre at best to be honest. $20 for 6 mini oysters is crazy. I spent $86 for 2 drinks and 2 things off the menu. My friend also spent around $80 as well. If you are looking to eat a snack or an app maybe you will like this place but if you are hungry and want a full meal I wouldn't recommend it as the portions are very small for the price. Also there is a train directly beside it which is very loud & DISTRACTING especially when you are having a conversation.
What took me out was when we were getting ready to leave. We went up to our bartender who also took our food order. We told her we were ready to check out. she gave me the system to input my signature etc and it gave me the option to input if I wanted a receipt which was what I opted for for my records . (Trying to be better about my spending etc.) We were waiting for the receipt and she told us to have a good day so then I just asked if I could have my receipt. She then tells me that they don't have a printer so then I ask if there is another way I could get it and then she tells me with a very bad attitude that if I wanted a receipt that I needed to go to the second floor to get it. It wouldn't have been such a big deal but the way she was handling the situation was very unprofessional and low key kinda rude. Also why would I have to go to the second floor to get a receipt? mind you it was not busy in that area at that moment. Then another bartender said that they could text it to me which I was like yes, Perfect! He then started to look it up and sent it to me. It was that simple yet our bartender was just being difficult for no reason. For that alone I would never come back to this...
Read moreThe overall vibe of this place is that you're hanging out in someone else's (really cool) patio.
The aesthetic of the patio is really nice - the paint, lights and plants all go really well together. The hosts and servers all have personality and seem like they're genuinely glad you're there.
To enjoy the patio, guests pay a $5 / table surcharge for Covid-related charges to support the staff (fair), and then the online ordering and payment is all done via your phone at the table. It felt a little weird to me having to tip a server before I had even received my drink (that's how the online payment system works), but I get that it is best for the safety of the staff. Also, if I wanted to order a bottle of wine from the shop and enjoy it on the patio, there was a $30 surcharge, which seemed high to me.
The wine and rice beer my table enjoyed were unique and good, yet the wine pour seemed small.
Also, there is not currently any food here, but the host mentioned they may bring in a food truck in the future, and you can bring in food from outside / have it delivered.
Overall cool vibe, may be more worth visiting once the full bar and kitchen are up...
