I honestly need to put this place on blast for their disgusting behavior. My bf was dancing with our group of friends, and a staff who appear and behaved unprofessional, shoulder checks my partner aggressively for no reason, with there being enough space around him anyway to move around. We were not bothering anyone to our knowledge and werenāt approached yet he very quickly berates my bf and threatens to get āhis guysā. My partner just looks at him, laughs and turns away because we had no idea he was security since he didnāt appear so or talk like one. My bf wasnāt asked to leave or anything like that but seconds later four/five other security guards were around him and immediately grabbed him and started shoving him. They yelled take him to the back into the establishment and he was resisting being pushed and saying He wants to be let out the front, but theyāre too busy aggressively handling him. As this is happening.. one of the staff members was recording and laughing shining a light on and off in his face, Me and my friends follow them as they shove him out into the alley. Following im still in the back room and I begin too ask them to give me a reason on why they reacted so aggressively to my bf simply for not moving out of the way and someone literally grabbed me by my arm and threw me out. The doors were slammed on our faces. We did not deserve that and it was unprofessional. Iām glad my friends and I followed him to the back bc we have no idea what they wouldāve done to him if it was only him! My friend who stayed inside was discussing with other witnesses and they all agreed that nothing was happening and nothing needed that reaction. Everyone was confused and shocked. Iām inclined to believe the immediate aggression and escalation was racially motivated, my bf did not instigate or escalate he simply didnāt move over for the unprofessional staff member bumping against him with plenty of space to move around. We literally came here bc we were told it was a diverse crowd, it sucked we had to experience something like this in a place we thought was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the coolest bars in the city. Slippery Slope is known for its red lights, very cool Manhattan style bar upstairs and a nice divey bar with a dance floor downstairs. This is a place where the music is always great, and the vibes are super chill and far from obnoxious. A place where people of all type can go to have a fun time.
No need to dress up to the nines with the casual dress code. The only downside to Slippery Slope is the fact that they close at 2 am instead of 4.
This place is right next to Emporium and always has a taco/food truck right outside for those who are hungry. A late night taco bell is also about a street or two away.
If you want fine cocktails, nice ambiance and conversation, upstairs is where you go. If you want to hang out and dance the night away, head downstairs. Slippery slope is for everyone.
Once you have a memorable night here, you never forget...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to this bar to celebrate a friendās birthday on Saturday night of April 22nd. The bartender was a short girl with short black hair and looked to be lesbian/bi . I thought she looked super friendly but boy was I wrong. Earlier upstairs I left a nice tip on the cocktail lounge. When I came back downstairs this specific bartender asked me that I forgot to tip when I asked for a drink ?? I looked at her and told her I didnāt forget. She THREW MY CARD ON THE TABLE and refused to take my order just because I didnāt tip her specifically. I was just trying to buy my friend a drink for her birthday and I left a decent tip when I was upstairs. I couldnāt believe she did that. She told my friend that she ācould do betterā. Basically my friend had to buy her own drink. Iāve been to lots of bars around Chicago and that had to be the worst experience I have ever had with...
