I’ve been excited about this location opening. I LOVE the location on Logan, and this location is closer to home.
Things I liked: the espresso drinks are on par with the Logan location, which is great. I also think the black and white stripes with neon sign is very cute. The employees were super friendly and talked to my toddler, which is instrumental in helping us feel welcome.
However, I really wish there was more space for seating. There is a whole wall of dried goods, an enormous drink cooler, a half-full commercial fridge. I’m guessing the purpose is to provide picnicking materials, but many of the items could be bought at a grocery store. There’s a large table in the back that would be great for seating, but instead it’s holding baskets. The Logan location is very well laid out and I’m a little confused at the intent here.
Lastly, I know that this location just opened, so I’m hoping these are kinks. Our croissants were drier than the other location, possibly because they’re a day old. The macaron I had tasted like it had been in the freezer too long. My classic croque monsieur was cold and the cheese was not at all melted.
I will be back to try everything again, but otherwise I’ll be going...
Read moreI go to Boulangerie all the time and have for years. Sometimes Logan, sometimes California. The food is always delicious, but what I saw today was inexcusable. While sitting down for lunch with a friend, the owner/manager - whomever - thought it was appropriate to actually yell at and threaten to fire one of his employees while they were having their lunch. They did this right in front of all the customers in the dining room. That employee appears to have been later dismissed. It was extremely unprofessional and embarrassing. Why would anyone in a position of power think this was at all appropriate? Any good leader knows you discipline in private. I don’t care what the employee did, yelling at employees is never okay. Shocking to see it right there in the open in front of customers. I felt really bad for this employee, who didn’t even get to finish their lunch after being publicly humiliated. I do not think I can continue to patronize this business at any locations knowing this is how they treat...
Read moreA bit disappointed and confused by this place. The food quality is not up to snuff with the logan square spot (a 5 star review there for me) and the "grocery" aspect throws me way off. I get selling wine and maybe some cheeses or other import items, but why is it setup like a corner store? There's snack size Pringles at the counter with handwritten sharpy prices and a cooler full of sodas and, of all things, Starbucks coffee drinks. I don't get it. Who's stopping in to buy junk food? Charcoal? Cheapo meat thermometers? And is the snack-size Pringles business really worth not having added seating? Based on the space, they could have at least a few two tops and four tops respectively. Instead there's a giant cooler, a giant empty fridge, a butcher block for no reason, and a table covered in baskets (???). I just don't get why they would change their business model from the very successful model at the logan...
