When I first walked in there was no sense of directions or signage, not even someone to greet you. I walked to the bar where someone then asked if we’re dining in. We were seated and then after several long minutes they came back to get our order. The empanadas came out and tasted very burnt. The bistec encebollado was one of the blandest I’ve ever had I barely even ate it. The chicken was okay nothing to rave about. No one checked on us during the meal or even after. The employees were to busy having gossip hour in the corner. I had to get up from the table and go ask for the check so I could pay and leave. Overall would not recommend!

I have gone to LA Bruquena for years they are like family to us. Always giving is samples of new things for us to try. They have been a big staple to this community for so many years. And while having dinner you will run into baseball stars, Spanish music stars and more. Everyone that comes to chicago always stops there its a must. Zoraida and Roberto serve authentic puerto rican food. They support there community with grace and respect. I have always had best times here especially with the music And there hospitality. They treat everyone like family.

I always try to say something nice in reviews even if I had a bad experience, but I can't say anything nice about this place. this was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had in my whole life. I was shocked, it took our server 20 minutes to acknowledge us after we sat down and she had a really bad attitude. They were out of a lot of stuff on the menu, we ordered drinks and fries, there were only a couple of people in the place but it took another 15 minutes to get the drinks we ordered because the only server there was in the back the whole time screaming VERY loudly at the cook complaining that everyone's food is coming out cold and people are not happy with the food. The tables were filthy, bathrooms were filthy, when we got our drinks the server was complaining about the busy day and the place being under staffed. I ordered the chicken and we got our fries...guess what? cold and soggy. We literally sat there for almost a half hour while our server and the guys in back had a screaming match. when she came out she said they would be closing soon, I asked if she'd put in my order for the chicken and she said no so we said we're just gonna pay for the drinks and fries and leave and she walked away and disappeared in the back again while I sat at the counter with my money waiting to pay. By the time she came back and gave me my change we had been there almost an hour and a half and got WAY overcharged for 2 drinks and a few soggy fries. I've never experienced worse service, worse attitude from a server and worse run restaurant in all my days. I'm very disappointed and I do NOT...

We went on a Saturday night and weren’t sure if we would have 6 people or maybe 15. We were seated in the rear with long tables so that was ok. What wasn’t ok was not being asked if we wanted to order drinks and had to wait for the waitress to make her way to this back room. I ordered lechon and it had no seasoning. None. Usually I’m the one who doesn’t mind a little seasoning but this had non. My friend’s pork chops were excellent though. My kids had jubarito type sandwiches but were disappointed the plantain didn’t have any garlic. The drinks were good. We had a total of 6 people. When we asked for the bill we were told they couldn’t give us individual ones but could take multiple forms of payment. In the interest of time, I said I’d pay and others could pay me later. The bill came and I looked over the items and then to the total. I added a 10% tip for the poor service and half good meals. What I just noticed today (my fault for not looking sooner) was the auto generated 15% gratuity added! What? Why? Nowhere in their site does it say that and I don’t recall seeing this on their menu. I’m used to seeing this with large groups but 6 is not a large group. What I wound up paying was a $29 tip on a $93 meal which included drinks so I’m upset because it definitely wasn’t worth it. I won’t be back and I caution you to ask about this gratuity. Should I have complained then about service and meals? Yes. I didn’t want to put a damper on a special event following dinner so I didn’t. With so many choices in the area, we won’t...

I visited Bandera Bandera and was surprised by the level of service received. Upon entering, we were asked if we were going to purchase something, as that was the only way we would be allowed inside. We proceeded to the bar and purchased eight Patron shots.

Shortly after, I attempted to use the restroom, but was abruptly stopped by a staff member (who I later learned was the owner’s daughter) who slammed the door and told me I could not enter. As a paying customer, especially after making a significant purchase, I found this treatment unacceptable.

I then asked a server for clarification and was told the restroom was temporarily unavailable because of a prior incident. While I understand restrooms sometimes need to be closed, this explanation should have been communicated respectfully from the start rather than through rude and dismissive behavior.

Overall, this experience left me very disappointed. Customer service and courtesy were severely lacking, and I would not recommend this establishment. There are nearby alternatives, such as La Sandwichera, where customers are treated with far more...
