I hate to leave this review and potentially hurt a local business but I’ve seen more than a few people leave reviews stating the food lacks flavor and the restaurant doesn’t seem to be doing anything about it. Hoping the continued feedback will help them improve and stay in business.
My husband and I had lunch here and it just wasn’t good. It wasn’t horrible, it just wasn’t good. Nothing exciting and nothing we’d return for. The chicken limone just tasted like lemon, nothing else. It came with homemade chips and tasteless broccoli. Chips were a weird choice for the meal we thought and it was strange that the broccoli had nothing to it. Like no salt, garlic or even butter? We also ordered carbonara which they’ve taken off the menu but they said they could still make. It was unlike any carbonara we had ever had before and unfortunately it also had no flavor besides the pork it was made with. The best thing we had was the fried calamari, it was perfectly fried, lightly breaded and the calamari was super tender but… it also had no real flavor besides the lemon we squeezed on it and the marinara sauce for dipping.
We’ve seen other people say the food had no flavor but this is a walkable restaurant for us so we gave it a shot anyway and unfortunately it’s just not worth the money. We spent $100 on lunch and it just wasn’t worth it. I’m actually bummed we spent money on it at all 🥴 Cannot...
Read moreI LOVE THIS PLACE! Not only do they offer a wide variety of options from seafood to steak to chicken and the best pasta dishes around, you can get your entree prepared with any of their homemade sauces including (limone, cacciatore, vesuvio or velasco). Grilled and fried options are also offered for many dishes. I can’t decide if I prefer the fried calamari or the grilled octopus with its special sauce alongside some warm, soft freshly baked bread 🤤. I especially enjoy the welcoming atmosphere there. It’s a great place for a date, for hanging out at the bar sharing one of their delicious pizzas over drinks from the full bar complete with top shelf liquor options, beer and a very nice wine selection. Families are welcomed too. I’ve entertained many friends, family, business lunch meetings as well as attended a private party with a selection of some of their customer favorites on the menu. This family owned restaurant will make you feel at home in an elegant yet comfortable setting with very friendly staff all while listening to the nice mix of soft music playing in the background or watching the game on the big screen at the bar. Oggi Trattoria is top notch when it comes to some great...
Read moreWas out walking around Chicago with family and looking for an authentic old school Italian restaurant and ended up here . You'll notice a lot of Italian restaurants in little Italy are not open for lunch..Oggi was the right choice for us .
Atmosphere: 5/5 cozy warm, Sinatra playing on speakers and host was very warm and friendly. Linen cloth covered tables .. interior had venice back wall and interesting art against the walls.
Chicken Parmesan: 5/5.. I have to admit I am biased because I grew up in Chicago and eating chicken parmesan sandwich was a thing for me. Italian Bread is from Bari food next door and chicken seasoned to perfection...love love
Soup of the day: 5/5 spinach tortellini soup. Made fresh to order. First time trying this very clean broth and tortellini was fresh made. Kudos!
Salad: Fresh balanced vinegar, oil and Parmesan. dressing was served already mixed into the salad. Daughter and I loved it but my mom thought it was too salty..opt for side dressing if you want to control.
Pizza : 4/5 Margherita used fresh ingredients but was a bit heavy on the mozzarella. Would have liked more red sauce to offset the cheesiness. But did get my...
