This is one of my favorite neighborhood spots, it feels like a time capsule of a second wave coffee joint and a hidden gem only known by those living directly in the blocks surrounding it.

The staff seems to know almost everyone who comes in and always has the excited energy of a family and friend run business!

I get the bagel sandwich way more often than I’m willing to admit and it hits every single time. They don’t skimp on the egg or bacon and for that I am forever thankful. I would like to see them use their ‘dine-in’ service more to save on the disposable bags, cups etc.

If you’re seeking a classic no frills cup of black coffee, this is your spot. It does however fall really short in terms of their espresso based drinks. I’m not sure if that has to do with their exclusivity to Julius Meinl or a lack of training/upskilling their barista station. If they were to overhaul their espresso/latte prep with a local roaster and modern puck prep/milk frothing it would be a tremendous improvement all around I know firsthand other customers in the neighborhood would like to see.

My only other negative note would be the volume of the place. As expected for a small spot when it gets busy it gets louder, but the staff does tend to be loudly talking/conversing with each other to the point of being disruptive to those who may be using this spot as a place to temporarily work or take meetings from. Simply another second wave coffee shop signifier in my experience.

Love Red June and hope to only see them improve and become even better than they already are. Until then, I’ll be getting my usual black coffee and...

I stopped in for lunch this afternoon at Red June Cafe, Sunday, Oct. 21,ordered a California Dreamin’ sandwich and sat down to wait. About 5 minutes later the waiter came to say that they were out of sausage. I told him I had ordered the California Dreamin’ which was with turkey, not sausage. I waited another 10 or 15 minutes. When the sandwich arrived it was ham. I said I ordered turkey. He said, they were out of it and made the ham instead!!!!! I was flabbergasted. Although he offered to make another instead, I accepted the sandwich because I was hungry and didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes to eat. I expressed my displeasure and astonishment that I would be served something I did not order, because they were out of what I had ordered. He again offered to replace it if I wished. I said it was the principle of the thing. When one orders something specific in a restaurant one should be told immediately if it is not available, not be brought something which one did not order. I could just as well have been Jewish or Muslim for all they knew and only ate kosher or halal.

I’m sorry that your café is so badly run because I live only 1 block away and would be delighted to have a cozy place nearby with good food. But I will not be back; any restaurant with that kind of disregard for the customer does not deserve to remain...

First time here while visiting a friend for coffee I came a bit earlier than her and I tell you when you find a hidden gem in areas you never knew existed that for me are female owned businesses I tend to visit these spots more because when it comes to serving up great beverages and food these ladies can definitely do it right the first time. Friendly hidden gem that unless you're living around the area you wouldn't know about it unless you see a review online. (Especially from The Richlatino Chicagorican that speaks Spanglish not Spanish) The food menu has a variety of different options that cater for breakfast and lunch. Also have some vegan/vegetarian options as well. They have WiFi especially if you need to get work done. It's almost having a cafe spot that feels right at home when I am sitting right here. Music is really great and not loud like other cafe shops. I can guarantee if you have never been here or if you live in the area and didn't know about this gem it will take you from June to July through all the months wanting to come back. So for Red June Cafe I give them my personal 5 star recommendation on all to come check this place out. Friendly atmosphere, great music, awesome decor. Yumtastic...

I go to Red June somewhat often because it's right up the street and they have a walk up window which is convenient when I have my dog. The food has always been just okay.. not great but not bad, but today I paid almost $9 for hot tomato bread. What I ordered: Classic Italian Grilled panini stuffed with mozzarella, tomatoes, and fresh basil. What I got: Hot tomatoes, three itty bitty pieces of cheese scattered about and probably one basil leaf torn up and randomly distributed on the sourdough bread. The amount of cheese probably wouldn't even cover a quarter of the sandwich if it was all in one place! I am very disappointed and feel like I was ripped off. Huge bummer :(

My girlfriend and I just moved to Bucktown, and the first thing we decided to do was find a new coffee spot. Boy, are we lucky to have Red June!! Quickly it became our favorite cafe spot in the CITY! The coffee is delicious as they use Julius Meinl coffee beans. The regular cold brew and nitro cold brew are perfect to sip on. When you decide to get a more specialized drink, you can always taste the coffee, and it is never too sugary, which we love! Plus, they also serve simple cafe foods that are made fresh and served right to you (breakfast and lunch options). Give this spot a try!!
