Karen Marie Salon — Local services in West Chicago Township

I came to the salon on Aug 9 for a color correction consultation since it has been 4 years since the last time I colored my hair. I walked in and removed my SPF sun scarf from my face and placed a mask on my face due to not wanting to take a chance in contracting covid in a public place with people I do not know. I have 2 immunocompromised elderly family members at home. If either one became ill they could seriously lose their life. Not a risk I want to take. So there was a stylist with long black hair and a Jean skirt on who at the front of the shop speaking with either a client or another stylist and the black hair sylist was making googling eyes with the receptionist who was making facial expressions and laughing at me. I don't think either realized that I had noticed. But I did. I was completely unprofessional, rude and shows that you have no class. You don't even know me. You never do that in front of a client so they can see you laughing and rolling your eyes or hear you talk about them. The receptionist asked if I was checking in I said yes and have my name. Then I watched this go on for about 20 more seconds and decides to walk out. I am not going to visit and establishment if that is how they treat potential clients. Plus, parking is awful on Milwaukee Avenue. I also think this is probably best since if I decided to do service with Karen it is likely I wouldn'tbe able to get a haircut with meg until September. Since this is what I was told on the phone days ago and looking at their profiles none of the other stylists were of any interest to me. . Glad I didn't stay. None of them deserve my money for that behavior no matter how good or bad their work may be. The only plus at this salon is they have a lot magazines to browse through. Came in about two months ago because I needed a quick cut and color that my normal stylist I go to could not fit into his schedule. I selected Jess as she had availability when I needed. She made sure she understood exactly what color I wanted and showed me a booklet of all the different colors and how they look on hair. She explained in detail what could be done and even said we could mix colored to get my desired color. We ended up mixing two burgundy colors to get the color I wanted. She gave me a great haircut (side and back fade with top left longer but texturized). She made note of my preferred color after the appointment and now I know that color for future appointments. I would come here again in a heartbeat. It’s going on 3mo and the color is just now fading after proper upkeep. Highly recommend this...

Since I come to yoga near this place I decided to make an appointment to get a hair cut, there is a guy in front behind the plexiglass without a mask who I made the appointment with for the following week. The rest of the stylists do have masks so you know. When I arrived to my appointment the stylist was ready for me and she was very nice and friendly. She washed my hair, cut it, washed it and got it ready for me to continue my day. She sort of gave me a scalp massage but I think because I was distracting her by taking, it didn't last long. Also the back of my neck didn't end up completely clean. I did like the service and the attention I was given, will come back again.
