I have mixed feelings about Zen Yoga Garage. I was very excited to try a class after walking by a barre workout that was happening. I should have taken Zen Barre instead of Zen Burn. The facilities are clean, modern and spacious, and there are a wide variety of classes to choose from. However I think that the class descriptions should be updated to be more explanatory to those not familiar with yoga and specifically hot yoga. For example, the Zen Burn class states that the room is warmed to 85-95 degrees (it was 94) and that the movements are weighted yoga moments with bursts of cardio. I didn't see any disclaimers that the class was not suitable for those new to yoga and it definitely would not be suitable for most pregnant women unless you are accustomed to hot yoga. Also I felt like the instructors should ask if anyone is new to help give them more guidance vs. assuming everyone knows the class format and what weights to grab etc. And it would be helpful if the class scheduled clearly indicated which classes are in the space with fresh air. This studio is well suited to those experienced with yoga, but not so...
Read moreOne of my absolute favorite yoga 🧘🏾♀️ studios in the city! There are sooo many fun & engaging class options for every level! One of my favorite things is that you can take a barre class, a burn class, or a power yoga flow if you want to engage your body/ muscles in a different type of activity. The locker rooms/bathroom is always sooo clean & the space is aesthetically pleasing. It’s also so great to see so many different types of people/bodies practicing here and the location is so fabulous b/c there are so many yummy brunch options nearby after I take a Saturday/Sunday morning class. The staff are soooo kind as well! Unlike at other studios I’ve been to in the city, I never feel judged or less than if I’m not doing advanced poses or wearing the most expensive alo yoga fit. I can tell that folks who teach at Zen really truly practice the principles of yoga on and off the mat & they collaborate with so many organizations around the city to pour equity back into populations who might be less likely to learn about and practice yoga. Highly...
Read moreI have nothing but great things to say about ZYG. When I moved to Logan Square I was struggling to find some place to work out, and my awesome friend Gina took me to my first class here (with Bradshaw!) and I was immediately hooked. I feel the practice has really elevated my mindfulness and helped me become a more patient and reflective person.
The unlimited pricing is awesome and competitive with other unlimited memberships at other studios. The class variety and quality is unmatched. I’m a total burn addict - I take 4-5 burns a week. I couldn’t pick my fave teacher if I tried, they’re all amazing. Jen, Cierra, and Steve (cannot express how much I will miss his classes) would always bring the best music. Lisa and Cheyne have made me see the light on multiple occasions 😂 but I’m still absolutely addicted.
Overall - worth every penny! I will continue to take classes here until I move out of the city. Be careful with parking though on Milwaukee - it’s not available year round! Got a ticket to realize but haven’t made the same...
