I ordered from Reno for the 1st time a few years ago for takeout and was blown away by the flavor of the pizza and especially their jumbo sized wings. Two years later, I ordered their wings again for takeout along with a side of ciabatta bread and chocolate brownie(for my girlfriend). The ciabatta was average and my girlfriend really liked the chocolate brownie. She said, "Even though it was cold it was still a 5/5." That's impressive.....Since the brownie did not come with the ice cream pictured in the photo, she deducted .5 so the brownie was a 4.5/5.
Now on to the chicken wings. The reason why I came back to Reno. The flavor was still very very good as well as the consistency. But I was truly upset that the wings looked like they were half the size from the first time I ordered them. Now, I understand that prices everywhere are going up and I'm willing to pay almost $16 for 6 wings. Especially when they are big, tasty and spicy. But today, the size of the wings came up short about half so I felt like I was being shortchanged. I was really looking forward to taking a big bites from the thick wings I had just like last time, while I watched Sunday Night Football but I was saddened that I was let down. Not sure if I'll be going back to Reno again for wings knowing that they are smaller...
Read moreI have walked past this place a number of times and it almost always seems to be open. During the early hours it's a neighborhood coffee and breakfast shop. Midday you'll find a mix of afternoon drinkers and lunch goers. At night it seems to be a bar spot.
I finally made my way in early one weekend morning and was set on brunch. Totally not disappointed. I started off with a lox bagel sandwich with an egg added to it. They use a thinner style bagel and high quality ingredients. At first I felt it was a little overpriced but after a few bites, I was felt the price was very well justified. I followed up my sandwich with a pizza fired up in their wood fire oven. The pizza was also very good. Not as phenomenal as the lox bagelwich but far from being disappointing. The other highlight of my visit was the free flowing Stumptown coffee. I'm a coffee fiend and I took serious advantage of the good stuff. I was certain they'd try and cut me off. On the way out I was SHOCKED when I was offered a to go cup for more coffee. If for nothing else I'd come for the coffee and stay for the coffee. haha Actually, I'd have another bagel sandwich, too.
Reno, you'll see me again...
Read moreEating in restaurants is like playing russian roulette for my family because of my son's very severe food allergies. When we travel it's even more difficult to keep him safe and fed. We recently traveled to Chicago and stayed in Logan Square (at a fantasic airbnb, by the way), and had the good fortune of discovering Reno just down the road from us. We are always grateful to find a restaurant that serves safe food for my son. Whether it is good food is a lower priority. So, to discover a restaurant that serves excellent food - morning, noon, and night was a real treat! In addition to the fine quality and taste of the food was the outstanding service we received. This restaurant and their superb waitstaff, managers and chefs are full of heart. The love and thoughtfulness that goes into their delicious food and their service cannot be beat. I am generally a tough critic, but I have nothing negative to say. My son had the best culinary experience of his life at Reno and I am so very grateful. Oh, and, the pizza, pastas, gnocchi, sandwiches, bagels and other breakfast foods are all amazing. We had some nice wine too. And don't miss the daily specials - yummy and...
