*ANOTHER RACIST ESTABLISHMENT * I’m only giving this place one star because 0 stars is never a option unfortunately. I come in and the old lady who runs the front counter and answers the phone, immediately asks, “to go?”, I told her to give me a second and can I please see a menu. As I’m looking at the menu, she interrupts and asks once more, “to go?” I then responded with, “did I say to go?”… she then went silent; she didn’t even attempt to ask if I wanted to dine in or seat me or even give me time to look at the menu. Once I decided to dine in another guy who’s not browned-skinned comes in after me, she immediately just greets him. She does NOT keep subtlety attempting to force him to take his order to go but allows him to take the time to respond after she greeted him. I call the waitress who was working tonight( 4/10/22) over to inform her of this incident and she says to me “that’s her attitude, I am sorry about that. I, myself treat everyone equally”, basically confirming that’s the kind of establishment this is, and that lady does in fact show discrimination toward guests. At that point the waitress is cleaning my table without permission pretty much RUSHING me out of there basically as if I’m not welcomed as 2 other people over to the right of me who were also not browned skinned like the guy who came in after me, were eating comfortably at their own pace, with no one rushing over to clean their tables without confirmation that they were finished, but letting them enjoy their dinner. I am REPULSED. Clearly black people are not welcomed here— smfh. When is it going to end?? I ADVISE YOU TO NOT SPEND A DIME HERE. THANK ME LATER!
Edit: THEY HAVE RESPONDED TO EVERY REVIEW BUT MINE. Point...
Read moreEl Cid 2 had been a pretty good go-to Mexican restaurant, if a bit pricier than potential alternatives. However, tonight I ordered their nachos for delivery and was treated to a rather unpleasant change in policy. Without noting anything on the menu or changing the price at all, the restaurant changed their policy to only give twelve chips (I counted ten, in their nacho appetizer platter. To be clear: these are not enormous artisan chips, but regular tortilla chips. This meal was over in roughly four bites, with some leftover toppings that could easily have been spread over more chips--ironically, the cheapest part of the meal. I'm not sure how much it would've cost to put a few more chips in the nacho platter (like they used to do here), but certainly it wouldn't outweigh the business lost from a jaded customer. What's more, the dish was in no way justified in costing roughly $20 with delivery fee and tip--costs that I understand are extra, but that were paid with the understanding that I would receive the same quality food that I had in the past. At the absolute least, there should have been a note made in the description of the item, or the price should have decreased with the quantity of the food. This felt like nothing short of robbery, and I will not be returning to El Cid 2 in the future without some sort of indication that they're interested in fixing what I believe to be a dishonest move on their part. I have attempted to call and speak with a manager, but I have...
Read moreI've been here quite a few times and I must say that I am a fan for sure. Their margaritas have never let me down, the lime one is always a favorite and the tamarind flavored one is very delicious. The food here has never missed its mark either. The only complaint I have is the fact that I've had a blunder or two when it came with the waitress and my bill (over charged or got the order wrong), but everything was sorted out quickly and amicably.
My friend is in love with their steak fajitas and thinks its the best ever. The mini chimichanga appetizer is always something I have to order. They are also very accommodating when it it comes to vegetarians, if there is something on the menu that you'd prefer without meat they'd be glad to do it. I've also had friends order off menu (a bunch of plain quesadillas) before and they were flexible enough to do that.
Their first floor is your average mexican restaurant and when the weather is warm they have a front and back patio. But if you'd like to take it up a notch you should try their second floor. It's a little more intimate and when I recently went, they had a live trio playing some nice jazzy/hispanic music. Although it was just me and my friend going out for some drinks, I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere and would love to return...
