I've never seen a bar with such great potential be sabotaged with bad management until I hosted a party at Richmond Tavern.
Richmond Tavern has been our little go-to spot for a quick beer and a game of pool since we live in the neighborhood. After coming to this place for a few years we noticed a few things such as, bartenders last 2-3 weeks max at the bar, its always very empty and the crowd is never that diverse (its the same 10 regulars that are keeping this bar open).
We decided to give the bar a shot for our going-away party since it was convenient and cheap. We brought about 40-50 people to this bar that I've never seen more than 10 people in at one time. Margarita the manager/bartender was rude to my guests, was complaining that nobody was buying drinks or tipping (they were), turned down the music; even the touch tunes that people paid for, refused to provide water, and decided to close the bar 2 hours earlier than regular hours just to get us out. My guests were not loud, messy, or disrespectful in any way. Almost all of our guests had a drink in their hand the entire time. When she complained mid-party to us that people need to buy more drinks, we offered to buy a whole bottle of Don Julio Repo to support the bar, but we were rejected and told that they don't sell full bottles...
Alongside that she said "Your people did not take care of us" after the party, referring to tips. The bar only accepts cash tips and its 2025 nobody carries cash. And IF they accepted card tips, Margarita did not provide any type of friendly, attentive service to my guests (which nearly everyone complained about). Why...
Read moreMy go to Sports bar! The game sound is usually on for big games and if there are no games playing you can be a DJ with TouchTunes. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The bar is long and wooden just like you would expect from a great Dive Bar. The drinks are cheap and the pours are heavy with many options, craft cocktails and even made to order frozen drinks. There is plenty of seating and even a stage if you feel like putting on a show.
Richmond's doesnt serve food, but they do have FREE pickles and peanuts. Also, can't forget about their COMPLIMENTARY COOK-OUTS which usually entail, the owner's favorite freshly fried hand tossed chicken wings, homemade guacamole, hamburgers, and if you are lucky Rib Eye Steaks. Believe me, you don't want to miss these. Especially, on Bears' game day. Richmond's also has a pool table and a nice patio for the perfect...
Read moreCozy atmosphere and plenty of TVs to watch your favorite sports teams. Anna was our server and an absolute rock star. Fun, sociable, and on point with our drinks.
They have a decent selection of beers to choose from including several craft beers on tap. For Halloween they even included a menu with special drinks/shots for the holiday. For those looking for the deal of the day there is a shot & beer special every day for $5!
There's a pool table for added entertainment. Also they have a fireplace for the customers to enjoy. Just another personal touch to show how the establishment takes care of...
