We came in for a family get-together and were very disappointed. We have a "Chicago's Best" night and saw the advertisement for the S'mores offered at the bakery. We had every intention of getting coffee and two platters for 6-8 people that came from all around the area. What a waste.
When we arrived at 4pm, nobody was at the register or in the front to greet us. We stood around for a solid few minutes before someone helped us. When we were helped, the employee told us they were out of S'mores and making more at the time. We were told they weren't "set" yet. It's 4pm, remember, and they close at 6pm. We made our minor complaints, but the employee was unhelpful and generally unapologetic. She shrugged and said "sorry," for not having their most advertised item.
They was very little in terms of an apology or helpful advice. I asked how long it would take to set and got no answer from the girl at the store, meaning they had none and lied to us. I asked that question 2 times and never got an answer... Sure thing.
This place was an unfortunate waste of time for a family outing. I hope others don't make the same mistake on their own Saturday afternoon.
Edit: after hearing from management I felt that I could understand bad timing and an unfortunate event. That said, I still have trouble wrapping my head around a bakery, with an item that takes time to set, not being more proactive with those items. They may have been busy before we came in but we were the only patrons in the store for over 20 minutes and nobody came in during our visit but us.
I've improved the rating thanks to the reply, but I still think that thought needs to be put into having items available (we would have been happy to have 1 tray and other items) versus totally...
   Read moreI don't even know where to begin. This is a group of Miracle workers! I called them with only 2 days to turn around a VEGAN & GLUTEN FREE custom Blueberry Cream birthday cake for me. Even though this wasn't an option on their menu, they were confident they could do this for me and in my extremely short time frame. I was skeptical. It was all just too easy. And at the right price! The value was great. I told Megan it was my birthday and that I wanted it to look 'pretty' but that I wouldn't have the first clue how. There were so many add on options for a fee but I didn't ask for any bc I wasn't sure how it would look. To my (pleasant) surprise, when they delivered the cake ON TIME, she had given me a complimentary upgrade in design - it was pretty obvious! And I was in love. But then it was finally time to cut the cake. I was nervous - vegan and gluten free; and it's PRETTY?! Hmmm... How will it taste though??? DECADENT! That's how! Extremely moist. Not too sweet. You could taste the freshness of the blueberries. It was absolutely the best cake I have EVER had! The cake feeds 15. I only had 6 people over and I only had 2 slices left over to freeze that night. The employee explained that the two character images would be printed out. I explained how the images and the quote were from a certain scene in a tv show. Everything seemed to be going great. The day the cake was delivered I was left disappointed. The quote I wanted was there and the decoration looked great. However, the images printed out were nothing like the ones from the image I had sent the employee in the first place. All they had to do was print it out and so I have no idea why they couldnât print out the ones I provided or at least something similar.
