Chicago Plants — Local services in West Chicago Township

It's a small, local plant store, so it doesn't have a huge variety like a garden center would, but they have a decent variety of items/plants for sale given the size of the place.

They have good-quality plants, soil, fertilizer, and pots/planters--I've bought a couple of saucers from them in addition to a giant bag of soil, which has worked wonders on my indoor plants. The person behind the counter is nice and informative--I had a question about the best soil for my Pilea plant, and I got a great answer as well has helpful tips to know when and how much to water them to avoid root rot. I've also used their online store to place an order for pickup, which was hassle-free and made it super easy to check off another item on my holiday shopping list. Everything is priced fairly, too.

I highly recommend Chicago Plants. We recently moved to Oak Park and, lately, as I head back and forth to the city, I find myself traveling North Ave more than ever. Time and again I’d see the Chicago Plants storefront and think, “I need to check that place out…” Recently, as we were putting some finishing touches on our new place in prep for a party, we found we had an area of our dining room that needed some love. A big beautiful plant seemed the ideal option. I stopped into Chicago Plants and had a really nice interaction with the woman working that day. She was super kind, helpful and knowledgeable. We purchased a large plant with planter/stand. As she was ringing us up, she asked if we needed everything delivered. I didn’t know this was a possibility, so I was super grateful she offered it. Would love to leave a better review, but this place continuously changes their operating hours at a whim. I have visited twice and couldn't shop due to the changing hours without notice. It's annoying to drive to a location that you aren't sure what they absolute hours are.

AND the owner is quite rude (See below) - You definitely just changed your store hours. I came just three weeks ago and the store hours were at 11am, and then when I came today at 11am, they were noon. So unless three weeks ago was April 1st - I am at pass? No worries though, I will take my "attention paying detailed" business...
