Called, explained to lady what happened this was after I kept the baby bird alive for about 3 hours. We went to the park where the water is and there was a baby sparrow that was soaked in the water, so I picked him and I let him go a couple times but he didn’t really know how to fly yet and we were trying to decide if we should put him up in the tree again but we figured he would either hurt himself or go twords the water again. And then there was a poodle who saw the baby bird and attacked and tried to eat it so I tried to move away and I kept it in my hand and tried to calm it down otherwise it CAN die from getting stressed out Just to make things short and simple, my mom insisted that I called these people so i got on the phone and she told me to just put it back and I sent photos of the baby bird because she wanted to identify it but she said she couldn’t and didn’t know what it was but to me it looked like a sparrow. Then she had someone else call me to see if I could drop the bird off. Mind you I told her where I was which was Nile’s and the other lady asked if I could bring it to her by lakeshore and Addison in 21 min because she had dinner reservations. I told her I wouldn’t be able to make it that fast. Anyways I couldn’t take these people seriously and unfortunately I listened to what the First Lady I was talking to told me to do with the bird which was to put it back around where it was even tho I did have it in a box, the bird ended up dying by the time I got back inside the house with the box and its less than a five min walk from where I was staying at and this was right after I got off the phone with them. Yes, he was snuggled in cloth, I just didn’t take a photo with the cloth for better...

Called this number at 3:22pm today about a bird my family and I found underneath my sister’s car. It was clearly injured and I mentioned that to the woman that answered the phone. I told her that it tried to fly away but wouldn’t get very far because its wing was injured. Something was stopping it from getting anywhere. She asked if it was a baby and I said no. I know what a baby bird looks like and it wasn’t it. The woman continued to tell me that it is probably still learning to fly so to just leave it where I found it. I tried to tell her again that I think it was injured, but she told me the same thing. I had a big feeling that wasn’t the case, but also I am no damn bird expert, so I left the bird alone in a box outside with a cover so it wouldn’t be stressed but I made sure to leave half of it open incase it decided to get up and fly away (assuming what she was saying was true). I went to check on the bird every now and then and it was sleeping but also just clearly not okay. It tried to fly away at some point but couldn’t. I went again to check on it and it is now dead.

I called when I did because I wanted to go get this poor thing to the willowbrook center to get some help, but the woman turned me away. Now it’s dead and I feel horrible because it was probably suffering in its last moments. If the woman had just listened to me and not spoken over me then this baby could’ve had a second...

I have contacted Bird Collision before and have had a pleasant experience, however this most recent experience was not. I am unsure who I spoke with, but it was 6/5 just before 8pm.

Now I understand citizens call and are not knowledgeable on birds and sometimes they are doing more harm than good by interfering. However, you cannot treat everyone you speak to on the phone as if they have no knowledge and act dismissive, which is exactly what happened tonight.

Now I didnt tell this woman I worked for CACC as an animal control officer for 8 years, but I didnt feel the need to. What I did tell her was that this fledgling has an injured leg. She proceeds to tell me it's normal for Robin fledglings to "walk drunk". I then proceeded to tell her that wasn't what was going on and that it's a true leg injury. She kept acting dismissive telling me to leave it.

If youre going to have a group out assisting with injured birds, maybe listen to the person...ask for a video...act like you actually care. Since animal control has cut their hours, more people will rely on this group and to tell me that what I am seeing, is not what I was seeing...thats ridiculous.

Anyways, I never write reviews, but this one was needed. I sent a video to the number...of a clearly injured fledgling...just so they can see that dismissing people is not the way to do the work that...

Awesome organization of individuals who truly care about wildlife. I found a Canada Goose who had been hit by a car and left on route 64 in St. Charles on a Wednesday night around 8pm. She was hurt and appeared to have a broken wing and was clearly uncomfortable, in shock, and suffering. I tried many people but they were the only ones who came and helped the bird. I tried the police dept (they said let nature take its course). I also tried local wildlife rehabs but they were all closed. I called animal control after hours as well, but they said there was really nothing they could really do as most wildlife places were closed at that time. Chicago Bird Collision Monitors main number answered right away and they were really kind and understanding. They checked and found a volunteer close by within 15-20 minutes. The volunteer came and handled the bird with care and took it home. The volunteer said the goose would have a warm place to rest for the night and they would get in contact with someone in the morning. I checked back in the next morning and they reported the goose survived the night, is much more lively today, and is being pick up by someone today to be rehabilitated. Every life counts<3 Thank you for caring Chicago Bird Collision Monitors. Great people!

This is an amazing organization! I was walking in the Gold Coast in a VERY busy area around 4:30PM when I saw this bird with a long beak (it looked like some sort of sand piper, I found out he is an American Woodcock or "timberdoodle") standing in the road looking confused. I felt like it was not where it was supposed to be. The bird ran under a cop car that was parked on the side of the road. The police officer helped me pick up the bird and put it in a flower bed on the sidewalk. He didn't look injured at all but I still felt worried about him so I did a quick Google search and found Chicago Bird Collision Monitors. I sent them pictures of the bird and the address, and a volunteer came within 30 minutes. The volunteer took the bird and said that in the morning, someone would pick him up to take him to a bird sanctuary outside the city, and he would stay with her in the meantime. The whole experience from first contacting them to the volunteer taking the bird was less than 45 minutes! I have much more peace of mind knowing that he is getting the care he needs and that he's not just fending for himself on the streets of Chicago in a habitat he's not familiar with. Thank you so much!
