The food is wonderful, first off, right off the bat you need to know that their food is excellent. The horchata latte refresher is wonderful as well.
But the service is the worst service I've experienced at any restaurant, ever, point blank. I had a very pleasant experience with Alexa on Saturday, when I had come in and ordered the horchata latte refresher for the first time. I initially got the smaller size, and I liked it so much that I got the larger size.
I had such a pleasant experience that I decided to return today, on labor day, exactly 2 days after that encounter. When I walked in, I asked the guy working the counter how much it would cost for a gordita and a horchata latte refresher in the smaller size. He promptly told me that it would be "$12-14" because its priced higher, at $6.75. I told him I know that to be wrong because I was just in two days ago. He becomes vehement and agitated, absolutely insistent that I am wrong. I told him that Alexa served me on Saturday, and I know that there is a price difference. I even demonstrated it by showing him a picture. Again, he just remained aggressive and instead decided to call Alexa down. At this point he began to word vomit about how he actually charged someone $6.75 for a smaller size before I came in. I found that even more incriminating, because why would you admit to upcharging a customer to another customer? Please make it make sense. He also admitted to me that he doesn't know how to make the drink anyway.
Alexa finally came in and she recognized me. She rightfully corrected his weird misconception but at this point I had already had enough with arguing with this random dude. I apologized and I told her that I have no interest in eating at their establishment and I left.
This interaction left a really sour taste in my mouth. Please don't let them upcharge you on their drinks here. What a horrible experience. Would give 0...
Read moreThis place is a real hidden gem. Their homemade salsas absolutely stole the show, as the roasted Salsa Marron was spicy, smokey, and bursting with flavor, while the Verde was top notch being both tart and flavorful.
Tacos were great with a wide variety of very traditional options such as cabeza and lengua, and their namesake Taco Firme which features pineapple and pork was a fun spin that reminded me a bit of Hawaiian cuisine. The rice and beans were also perfect-- creamy, delicious and bursting with flavor and neither under or overcooked which a lot of Mexican spots somehow seem to not be able to get just right.
Service was also great as the girl waiting on us was very friendly and attentive. This is one of the best taco spots in Chicago and a great option for a quick...
Read moreFood was amazing!! Tacos firme (they’re actually just al pastor tacos) were amazingly tasty, and came with cheese in between the two tortillas they used to serve them. Lengua tacos were also highly rated by my girlfriend. Rice was super flavorful. would not order the pork skin tacos again sadly, I got one to try and I didn’t like the sauce that it was mixed with, nor the fatty soft texture. Also really liked the chile relleno, but think they should drain the excess oil a bit more first.
Overall would highly recommend!! Great...
