Located inside Pilsen Yards, The Alderman is a small and exclusive bar that offers a unique and intimate setting for a romantic evening or a private event. With only 16 seats available, guests can enjoy a personalized and attentive experience.

The decor of The Alderman is opulent and sophisticated, featuring a dark room with warm lighting and a plush velvet banquette that exudes a sense of luxury. The bar is set up in such a way that you can observe the mixologist at work, which adds an extra element of excitement and exclusivity to the experience.

The highlight of The Alderman is undoubtedly its cocktail program. The menu comprises unique twists on traditional American classics, and half of the cocktail list rotates every two months to keep things fresh and exciting. Each drink is crafted with care and precision, and the use of top-quality ingredients is evident in the taste and presentation of each cocktail.

The attention to detail at The Alderman is impressive, from the carefully selected glassware to the exquisite garnishes that add to the overall presentation of each cocktail.

The mixologist at The Alderman is very knowledgeable and friendly, and takes pride in sharing their expertise and providing recommendations based on the preferences of the guests. The Alderman also offers private events making it an excellent option for those looking for a more exclusive and personalized experience.

While The Alderman may be on the higher end in terms of pricing, the quality of the drinks and the overall experience justify the cost. It is not a place for a quick drink, but rather a place where guests can savor the art of mixology and enjoy a truly unique and exceptional cocktail experience.

Overall, The Alderman is a must-visit for cocktail enthusiasts and those looking for a one-of-a-kind bar experience. Its intimate setting, impeccable cocktail program, and exceptional service make it stand out from other bars in Chicago. If you're in the Pilsen area and looking for a luxurious and memorable night out, The Alderman is the perfect...

A Sip of Magic at The Alderman: Pilsen Yards’ Best Kept Secret

My wife and I recently made a reservation for The Alderman, tucked away inside Pilsen Yards, and let me tell you—this place is pure magic! We’d heard through the grapevine (and various websites) that this was a top-notch, speakeasy-style spot, and it did not disappoint.

We were on the hunt for a cool, secret entrance kind of place that served not just the classics but something truly unique. The Alderman is exactly that. Forget about your run-of-the-mill liquor selection—these folks are shaking things up, literally! They craft their own fabulous concoctions that are as creative as they are delicious.

Shoutout to bartenders Charlie and Roger, who are like the new kids on the block, but with the swagger of the Beastie Boys. These guys know their stuff! My wife and I each tried a few different drinks, and every single one was a hit. You’ll be doing yourself a favor by letting these mixology wizards surprise you.

Honestly, I wish I lived closer so I could make this my regular haunt. But here's a pro tip: don’t wait to make your reservation! Space is limited, and they only let a select few in each day. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this hidden...

I had made a reservation at The Alderman after hearing fabulous things about about it from a friend who lives nearby. Upon arrival, my party learned there was an error where the speakeasy was closed for a private event, but the booking software didn’t register the block, so we were unable to enter. The owner of Pilsen Yards - a restaurant I also recommend - was there and offered a delightful experience to make up for the mistake. He seated us at a booth in the main restaurant and chatted with us for a while. He brought us the speakeasy cocktail menu and told us they’d bring us a comped round of drinks from The Alderman. We were then greeted by the Alderman bartender who walked us through the menu and gave us a refreshing sipper to start. The drinks we both had were fabulous. I had a seasonal drink, the Chopped and Screwed. The flower inside the ice cube was a wonderful way to give the drink’s appearance some flare. While we were disappointed to not be able to sit in the speakeasy, things happen! The service and drinks absolutely made up for the whole thing. Couldn’t recommend both Pilsen Yards and the Alderman more. Thank you to you and your...

My wife had found this place randomly but it was not easy to find reservations (already a good sign!) Once we finally did, we were blown away. It is a very small and intimate space, so maybe only 12-14 people max, but the whole ambiance screams speakeasy. Interesting yet gorgeous artwork, dim lighting, excellent music choice (think BlackStar, Jurassic 5 etc.) Then comes Lance's menu. Lance is an artist and the drinks he has put together are phenomenal. It doesn't matter what you select, its going to challenge you and rock your world. AND if you have allergies, or prefer a different liquor, don't worry. For the first drink my wife said "I have a pineapple allergy, I like Vodka and nothing too sweet" and Lance goes "I got something." I can't even remember what he brought back but it was amazing. Something about Gin and raspberry but who cares, it was an incredible cocktail. The second drink she just said "surprise me" and another knockout! I tried the Summer Thyme and I the second one had Pisco in it, but both were also very delicious!
