My friend recommended this salon & I decided to give it a try for color. Previously I had attend a consultation & showed the colorist pictures of an idea of what I wanted. In my head I knew what I wanted & explained as most precise as I could with similar photos. Im just a customer whether it was balayage, highlights etc it was the hair stylist job to try to figure it out. I clearly stated that I wanted my roots to be light brown, to remove my entire black roots completely. Making a nice smooth blended transition from light brown roots to my blonde hair. The colorist never mentioned at the time of the appointment that it was not possible to get exactly what I desire or her concerns about my fragile thin hair because if so I wouldnât have even done my hair. I paid $250 for something I didnât want. When the assistant was brushing my wet hair that was teased she was literally pulling hard & pulled out a lot of hair. At the final touch my hair was styled down & I could not see the back or underneath that was still dark which I also stated to the colorist that I wanted some blonde lights to be visible when I pick up my hair, but she basically did my hair the way she wanted to prevent damage which I totally appreciate & respect, but that was not addressed to me to begin with or else I would have made my choice. I was very very dissatisfied so I called the next day to speak to the manager & was told to come in to speak with the colorist and owner Amy, so when I arrived I literally only spoke with the colorist over the same issue. There was just a total confusion so the colorist went over to get the owner Amy to come talk with me, but she never came over since she was busy with another client so after a few mins of speaking with the colorist I just walked out and thanked her. She clearly told me it wasnât possible to do what I wanted for various reasons especially not in one sitting and I would have to come back in 4-6 weeks, but pay again. I really hate to be annoying, but I hate to have paid too much for something I didnât want and have to pay again smh. Overall the colorist was very respectful and concerned about my hair, but should have been honest to begin with or mentioned the concerns. My main issue was my black roots, not a smooth blended transition and not being told from the beginning that it would not be similar to the pictures. If I knew I wouldnât have done anything. I donât recommend based on my experience and wouldnât even go back if offered. Iâm scared my hair will get more damaged. I think it was unprofessional that the owner did not even cared to check on the situation at all. Very VERY happy with my end result after returning and having Tiffany give me the cut and style I was hoping for the first time! I am impressed with the salon owners and their willingness to help me, offering to have me come in and see their best stylist. I know it cost them money but it was important to them that their clients are happy and satisfied. I will definitely be returning to see Tiffany as long as I live in Chicago. She styled my hair after asking me about the tools and techniques I'm comfortable with and gave me a look that I can replicate at home, despite having next to no skills when it comes to doing my hair! This salon was very kind, very welcoming, and very pleasant the second time around. I feel like I got what I paid for and then a little extra!
December 9th:
I rarely go to salons because they are so expensive (wife of a medical student and first time mom here) but wanted to get a nice cut for the holidays. Michelle was my stylist and if you like being talked down to, sheâs your girl. I tried to ask questions about what would work well with my hair and face shape and all I got was the response of âhonestly I think youâre making way too big of a deal about something that doesnât really matterâ and none of my questions answered. I was shocked! Isnât she supposed to be the helpful professional who went to school for this stuff? Maybe she was having a bad day. But I was left with a very uneven haircut, not anything that I had asked for, and feeling very bad about myself for not knowing what a fringe was. I talked to the owner who was very understanding and promptly set me up with one of their best stylists to fix everything.    Read morea.salon is a class act all around. it is very hard to find stylists as talented with the care of the hair as they are styling. my daughter came to the salon recommended by family friend. michelle did an AMAZING job with trimming hair for health, shaping her hair and finishing it. curls were absolutely lovely and my daughter has a ton of fine, curly hair. its overwhelming and she said michelle tackled it with no issue.
next is the color work. her hair was very brassy and felt like barbie doll hair (for those of that are familiar with that đ ). the initial color was done in a way to cover the brassy to maintain integrity and health of hair. her hair felt soft and rejuvinated and colorist did a great job getting rid of all the brassy and making it healthy. the color was not as vibrant as my daughter wanted which is understood because of the state it was in.
we communicated to the salon and they were so engaged and asked for pictures to understand what needed to be done. they were not defensive and were keen on making sure my daughter was satisfied but not to the detriment of health of hair. they gave detailed instructions on how she needed to prep hair before coming to maximize use of time. she went back for another round and yvette knocked it out the box. the color is popping, my daughter was smiling before she even got diffused and said she liked it better than the color she got a couple years ago somewhere else. i cannot say enough. you will not be disappointed. the professionalism, care, expertise and responsiveness is the best...
