We visited this location recently for dinner. When we walk in, there is only one other table with customers, so we were easily seated. The place looked somewhat new. We ordered 1 appetizer (onion rings) and two entrees. They brought everything out at once, instead of the app first. The onion rings seemed like cooked in colder oil, hence were very oily. The habanero salsa had zero salt, which was strange. I've never had any salsa with no salt and I usually cook with less salt anyways. The pozole was pretty good. The chips thankfully had salt. Overall the food did not feel heavy, which is good. I'm somewhat conflicted about this restaurant because the food lacked salt/punch of flavor, but it had a lot of potential and I want vegan restaurants to thrive in this part of the city. I will come back and give them another try to see how they have changed and addressed the issues. I would say that management is very receptive...
Read moreHave been looking to try this place for years. Finally made it, and was fairly satisfied with the food. I had the enchiladas, which were good, but seems like it took a few bites for the flavor to kick in. Even then, it felt like something was missing. I did enjoy them, though. My issue was not receiving any utensils on a to go order. Why would you not put any utensils in the bag? Once I got past that faux pas, I wasn’t happy with them putting the sauce that came in a small plastic sauce container, in my beans. Like, just sitting in my beans. So, the container is slopped with beans, and whatever contaminants that were on the container, are now in my beans. Having to request utensils on a to go order, and tell them NOT to put the sauce container IN my food will need to be expressed explicitly if I return, which I shouldn’t...
Read moreExcited to have this new spot in the neighborhood and to support a longtime community member from Pilsen. That said, the food was delicious! I got the pambazo and was happy with the size and the flavors. The salsa was also bomb. Not too spicy but with the right kick. We also ordered the taco dinner. The barbacoa taco made with jackfruit tricked my brain, the asada was on point and I couldn’t believe I wasn’t eating meat. The Baja was also a nice surprise with the avocado , beer batter and the habanero on top. Overall, a great experience. To drink we ordered the butterfly horchata and it didn’t disappoint. The service was excellent and so was the...
