So. Our family has always had a honey baked ham for Thanksgiving. It's a tradition. The road hasn't always been perfect. It's been bumpy.
Especially when this year I was told they don't make concessions for disabled people to pick up their ham.
You see last year the 800 number told me to reserve my hams online and that would make it so I didn't have to wait in the extremely long lines.
Come to find out they were extremely wrong. The managers that day were super upset over the bad info we were given and worked with us so our wait wasn't as long but it was still lengthy.
To try and avoid this this year I called and asked the store manager what they were doing for people that literally couldn't wait in those crazy lines.
She got extremely rude with me and told me to order online.
Well, we did that a previous year only to have the food disappear (one time. It literally was lost in delivery.) Second time it arrived spoiled and smelled up the entire house.
So I explained those situations to her and explained how I preferred not to do that again.
Only to be told "well thats it bc reserving the ham only ensures you have one"
I came on here.
Wrote a strongly worded review about how they discriminate against the disabled.
Imagine my surprise that the review is now gone! Lol
A manager emailed me. My brain is awful so I don't remember his name. However, he was extremely nice. I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate this gentleman.
He even offered to comp our hams this year for the trouble we experienced. He then gave me the store managers phone number to call when I arrived to make sure we didn't have problems. It was amazing. The ham was super tasty! (We donated one of them like we always do)
That was extremely nice of him. The only reason I'm leaving three stars is I truly feel this needs a permanent solution.
I can't sit/stand or stay in one position for more than about fifteen minutes. I often see people there waiting with walkers and in chairs.
I understand they are trying their best, but there must be a better alternative that can be implemented for the...
Read moreThis year it was more disorganized than usual If you reserved a HBH by phone you were given a qr code, as people lined up an employee came out & asked if we had the code then asked us to get into another line closer to the door well after few seconds we were asked if we prepayed for our hams & most of us said no so we were asked to go back to where we were in line & I then asked for the employee to put us back where we were because it started to get rowdy in the store, we lost our place in line & had to wait an additional hour when we were already at the door & then our line was not moving because they had 3 registers for the prepaid customers & 1 for cash paying customers someone complained to a young kid that was the manager & the line began to move just a little quicker When I've placed my order as I normally do every year... this year they needed our e-mail address to give us a qr code, they didn't offer us to prepay for our HBH, normally in years past they would give us a # & letters, even though we would get into the line ....the same line regardless if we had a # or not, they still took us in the order that we came in It was a very bad experience for me & others at the West Covina store & it was also placed on social medial Bottom line... pay a manager that has experience & that knows what he or she's doing a little more $ to organize this annually for the all of the holidays throughout the year ~ With the $ that they charge for HBH's you would think they could afford to run this very reputable company in a...
Read moreI ordered curbside pickup and was given a number when I asked how it worked she said oh you'll see when you get here they'll be set up outside. I arrived at 6:45 park the car didn't see any signs or instruction for any kind of curbside pickup a gentleman arrived after us and he too had ordered curbside service I called the store she said oh you don't see any cones outside I said no there's nothing set up she said Oh They'll be right out to help you we waited seven the doors open people started going in. I called the store again and said how does the curbside pickup work where are we supposed to line up she said Oh They'll be coming out in a minute a guy and a girl .they came out I honked and waved at them from My parking space they were taking orders from everybody else who was walking up and others. finally he came over and took my order number walked away. 15 minutes later while he's was waiting on other people who had come after us. another young man came over and took our number again and finally brought over our ham and then the girl with a tablet came to take our credit card so that we could pay for it. it was very unorganized but there was no semblance of order at all for the curbside pickup and I just wouldn't recommend it no matter how good the ham might be. Especially if you're handicapped...
