I entered Tian You Feng Dumpling House at 5pm when they opened with my sister and service dog, Canelo. We attempted to sit down and a staff member by the name of Michael Wang approached me and asked for my service dog's license. I responded with "although my dog is licensed it is against the Federal ADA laws to ask for his license. May I have the owners name please?" Another associate came out to reinforced what Michael was saying and said she would Google it to make sure that what I was saying was true. While she was googling, Michael went outside to a white Tesla parked directly in front of the restaurant and came back saying that they could not allow access unless I produced Canelo's license. After Michael returned I asked again, "may I have the owner's name please?" He responded with "I'm the owner and we have the right to refuse service to anyone." I exclaimed "no you may not on the basis of discrimination! That's very illegal in any state." At this time the other employee returns after having googled the law saying that I may be seated as long as my dog is a service dog. At this point in the conversation I was extremely uncomfortable and did not feel my food handling would be within safety standards if I had chose to continue with my meal at this establishment so I left. After going to my car and looking up the business owner's public information on the Secretary of States website I, to no surprise, found that Michael was not the owner. A Li Liu was the name on most documents along with Marvin Hsu. I then returned into the restaurant and asked Michael "whose names are on the business license and why did you lie about being the owner?" He responded that he was the manager and sorry for lying.
I really hope this facility comes to the understanding of what equal access laws are and abides by them so that everyone feels comfortable dining here. I do not recommend this place to anyone who has a...
Read moreQuality and service are pretty sub-par. Servers are confused and negligent. Food is mediocre at best.
For the price they charge its insane that you get the same quality of food from some random off the corner Chinese chain restaurant at the price of a traditional high quality restaurant.
I think theyâre having hard times because ALL of the plates they serve with are PAPER PLATES from COSTCO. Aside from the noodle bowl that they actually need a real bowl for.
They said they care about the environment and proceeds to go against literally the very meaning of saving the environment by using endless paper plates, plastic spoons, and Styrofoam cups. It felt like I just went to some side street food truck for 3x the cost just to sit down. $13 on average per dumpling dish. $18 for the cumin lamb. $15 for a noodle bowl and $13 for fried rice.
Pork juicy dumplings was more dry than the fried pork and chive dumplings. Their servings are so small for their price my family heard another family asking why the serving size is small and the employee started justifying why that is. Youâre better off going to panda express and save your money cause that place has more flavor than you could ever get by throwing money at them.
Look at my picture. It looks like we just ate at home after microwaving some food...
Read moreIt has been many years (at least it feels that long) since we had decent food for a decent price / wait period in LA.
The pandemic did a number on restaurants, turning even the most tried and true eating establishments into a "why do we even bother" experience. Poor food quality, poor food presentation, absolutely terrible service - and all for way more money that anyone should ever spend on such a meal.
So I am over-the-top excited about the Tian You Feng Dumpling House. The food is REALLY GOOD, and the server checks back often. The price is acceptable, and we completely understand, because we buy groceries too, and we know prices went up.
We've been there twice in the last week, and plan on making it a regular weekly stop. I recommend the spicy dumplings and the garlic chili cucumbers, the sauce is incredible.
I've found my new favorite restaurant in LA - oh, and did I mention? They have outdoor seating, so you can bring your...
