Blaze Pizza — Restaurant in West Des Moines

I have been here several times, the food has always been decent. I work in the mall so it used to be an easy lunch. Lately though it has taken longer and longer to get help. You'll see a lot of workers but many are standing around chatting or have their back turned to the customers. I came for lunch today, i was the only one in line. I was greeted fairly quickly and things seemed fine to start. My pizza moved down the line and someone would assist me with toppings for a moment and then they would walk away and suddenly i was with a new person. This happened three times.... It wasnt because one was meat and one was veggie or whatever, it seemed fairly random. My pizza then sat on a ledge waiting to go in an empty oven while some associates filled an online order and others fidgeted to look busy. We waited to pay for about 5 min before someone could be bothered to stop and help us. Our pizza finally got in and out of the oven and then sat there. No one cut the pizza or called our name so we watched out pizza get cold before we finally had to wave someone over and beg them to cut our pizza. I have 30 minutes for lunch. I was left with 3 minutes to eat and return to my shift. Overall it was really a frustrating experience and disappointing for a place we were once fond of. We will sadly not be back. I love Blaze and all their options, especially their vegan cheese! I go to the Jordan Creek location frequently and never have any issues. However, when I came to pickup my pizza that I ordered online for a certain pickup time, I was told they hadn’t started it and that my order was too complicated and couldn’t understand it. To give you an idea of my “complicated” order: I order a Simple Pie (Literally cheese pizza) with vegan cheese instead of the dairy mozzarella and parmesan. What is so complicated about someone who doesn’t eat dairy? Sub dairy cheese with vegan cheese? They also disregarded my comment about wanting the pesto drizzle (which is a free finish) and undercooked the pizza because they were rushed. Anyway, besides the drizzle part which might have been a little “complicated”, I don’t see why they couldn’t have called me, emailed me, messaged me on the Blaze app (anything!) instead of telling me my order was too...

It's sort of hit or miss here, but more hits. Today got the take 2. Pick 2 out of these 3: cheesy bread, 1/2 pizza, salad. $11.

I did the half pizza and caprese salad. The salad was delish. They let you drizzle on your own balsamic so it's to your specific taste. Good idea.

Have also tried the cheesy bread with this option and they don't put enough cheese on it. More like breadsticks with a dash of cheese.

For my pizza had Canadian bacon, sausage, mushroom, green olives. Traditional crust. They typically skimp on cheese for my taste, so I always request a little more. Sometimes the crust is borderline burnt for my taste- all in all flavor still there though.

It took about 15 minutes to get my order and it ended up at $18 with tax, which included 2 fountain drinks.
