OK I've been a customer here for quite a few years, but a recent visit has me changing my review from a 5 star to a 3. The last couple times I've been in here, I really haven't been impressed-and I came back because maybe they were busy or having a bad day or it had been a fluke, but that's not what I think is the case now. The employees the last 2 or 3 visits have been pretty careless about service. Rude isn't the word, but they're not friendly and certainly not pleasant. We stood at the counter for nearly 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged and then still waited another 8 minutes before someone even took our orders. The restaurant was in DIRE NEED OF CLEANING. I mean it was DIRTY. Food all over the floor, dust on the shelves and on the rails and even built up on the bathroom stalls. The floors were sticky and didn't look like theyd been mopped for about 2 days, and there was a layer of dust around the checkouts too. The walls and pictures on the walls even around the tables had dust on them, and the salad at the bar was mushy and slimey. When I pointed it out, an employee came out and put "fresh" salad on top of the one in the bane, which is bad enough but it was also in as bad as shape as what was already there (probably from the same bag?) I don't see myself going back again when there's cleaner places to get a...
Read moreI am currently at the Jason’s deli in Des Moines on university. I ordered coffee with cream, paid for that at the rest of my order. Walked over to the coffee pots which were both empty. I went to the counter and asked if they would be making more coffee. One worker said he didn’t know and then looked at another worker who didn’t say anything, walked over and made some coffee and walked away. Then I got my coffee and noticed there was no cream. I walked back to the counter and spoke with someone else and asked if there was any cream. He left and came back and said they were out. I asked then if there was any milk? Without checking, he said, “no, we are out of that too.” So I went to the cash register and picked up a carton of milk. I asked the lady behind the cash register if she was sure they were out of milk because that’s what I was told when I asked for cream for my coffee. Her response was, “no. I’m not sure we are out of milk.” Then she continued to stand there. So, I spent almost $2.00 on a carton of milk so I could have cream for my coffee! I’m UNBELIEVABLY disappointed at the moment! It’s not even busy here, and I...
Read moreSandwiches, soups and salads are not my thing. I came here because that's where the family, some from out of town, were congregating. I had the 1/4 Muffuletta with an add on salad. The salad bar is nicely stocked for its small to medium size. I found plenty to eat there. The Muffuletta was GREAT! Good ratio of meats to olives and a nice dressing. Not to mention the bread that was soft with a nice crunch. To top things off (if you haven't been to a Jason's) the soft serve ice cream is just like I remember from growing up in Donut Center (the place was a real hole) and going to a local burger shop on hot summer days. The staff is friendly, helpful and hard working to be sure guests have what they need. Since the family was meeting there we took up a lot of time but never felt rushed to get out of there. Nice laid back atmosphere. We felt it only fair to leave a tip even though Jason's is counter service. All in all, like I said, not my usual kind of place. But I was...
